Yeah, no record at all. I only had 3 points, so another 3 meant a big hike in insurance. well worth doing the course, and we can all be criminals together on the day.

Ask to see the calibration certificate of the Speed Camera, the Police do not have a legal obligation to provide this information so if it doesn't get asked for it doesn't get checked. And ask for previous camera setting details, they all go under a "speed measurment test" and have to be recalibrated every so often. I can find these details should you need them. You can also ask for the statistics that called for the camera to be placed there in the first place, they should review these all the time and if it has been found that the camera was no longer needed to be cited then its evidence obtained of speeders is Void.

The reason that there are these so called speed awareness courses, are to carry on funding speed cameras, many local councils wont put any more money into their cameras now due to lack funds, so this way they can still get revenue back, if nobody opted to do these courses there would be alot less cameras around, but if it was me with the ticket i would do the course, its a win win situation for them im afraid

Speed limit on a 30mph road is 30 + 10% + 2mph which makes 35mph. That is what you can normally get away with. That camera should be set at 36 mph plus. 8 mph plus by hand held gatso is a pull.35mph is on the limit of speeding/correction guidelines.A judge will not want to hear a case of 5mph over in court.Let's hope they squash it.

Think this is an old thread. However, for future use, sideways is right about the 10% +2mph. Not all speedos.read accutately so there is the tolerance for speedo descrepancies. It should also be noted that if you ignore the letters, chances are it will get binned. The coppers just dont have the manpower to chase.them all up. Basically they have 2 big piles of paperwork, one pile of admitted, so easy revenue, other pile denied/unanswered, which they cant plough through coz they too busy doing everyone who admitz to it. Simples.

Just to add to this oldie, I have on two occasions binned the notification letters and heard nothing more since. I also got one in N Wales a few years ago, on a blind bend, no warning signs and the bobby standing behind a road sign and tree. Figuring I was just over the 30 limit, I turned round, went back and photographed the whole scene. Letter came, binned it, another letter came, binned that. Then a summons, I wrote asking for their evidence and provided copies of my photo’s quoting the regulations. I heard no more about it.

My mother also got done just over the thirty limit, admitted it as she didn’t have the guts to bin it, got offered the awareness course. When she turned up she was treated like a hero by all the hoodies, who opened the door for her, got her tea for her during the break and generally showed her respect. Mind you she did turn up in her immaculate mega low mileage 15 year old Nissan 200SX Turbo. After my dad died I convinced her to get a more sensible new car. She now has a 2011 Volvo C30 T5 (230bhp) with full R design kit. You think I am joking? I kid you not!

    Reeeeeespect. My kind of bird.

When I got my 205, my beautiful Celica 2.0GT real wheel drive Liftback was passed, with some reverence onto my dad. He came steaming into my house one day, effing and blinding about how the Gatso at the top of Telegraph Hill had got him for speeding on his way home from work at 6am on a Saturday morning, and how unfair the whole speed camera thing was. When his letter arrived he'd been doing 98.8mph, but still acted the injured party.

Just do the course, it's boring but what can you do. I had to do a similar course in the States while I was living there. I just drove 95 instead of 55. The guy next to me just drove 56 and had to attend the same course, Haaaaaaaa

I was doing 35 or something daft like that so if the people saying its 10% + 2MPH are correct then its bloody bang on !!

I got a SP 30 Code on my counterpart, doing 40 instead of 30, of course in front of my house.
Unfortunately they didn’t’ offer me a course to get rid of the points.
Like I said, I would attend this bloody course, except if you got the options to pay the tickets and don’t get points on you license.

I was informed recently that although you generally get 10% +2 it can depend on what the authorities set their cameras up at. For example some authorities might set their cameras up in a 30mph zone at 40mph
