Can anyone get a reg from a VIN?

I've got another track bike coming (possibly actually going to a mate), but it has no v5 or reg plate.
It's probably accident damaged as the seller doesn't know the reg. I have the VIN number and would like to check it's past if anyone is able to run the VIN and let me know the reg?

 

I think dealerships can?? if you know anyone who is in the trade?

 

Unfortunately not. I was hoping that someone on here had access to one of the HPi type systems.

There is a fella on FB who does it, for £5 he may be on some of the Fireblade groups but I’ve forgotten his name. He can supply a ref number from a VIN if one has ever been assigned, I believe you need this and a vin to apply for a V5?

what bike is it, CB500 ? can't find the VIN on Honda UK system. Could it be an import?
