Well after a lot of time running back and forth, they are done.. It looks great IMO and the powder coaters did a fantastic job. However, it was a lot more pricey than I first though as I thought the bearings could be re-used I was wrong, it was £90 for both wheels to be coated, £80 to fit four new bearings (Honda main dealer) and £35 to remove tyres, bearings, valves and refit all, so £205 all in. I think it was worth it, but just thought I would let anyone thinking of doing it the costs involved.
Jamie - that looks faaaaaarst!! much quicke than those pesky repsols..... seriously though, before i'd seen the pics, i'd have said i dont think it'll work as i think the gold looks great, but looks realy good mate... brave move pulled off! nice one.

i would have been!! think i would have taken the less risk adverse route of getting some spare wheels done and having a swap every now and then to see which ones i prefer. but looks sweet as mate.... my vfr400 has white wheels, its going to be a labour of love lol
that looks very sweet Jamie! Now imagine how good it would look with orange wheels, orange paint..............LOL Good choice mate. That is a definite improvement. Hope you have plenty of rags and polish to keep em looking that way!!
They had to force them a bit and although I could use them again if I insisted it was strongly recommended to fit new ones, the OE bearings are £10 each and I did get them to fit them so It could of been cheaper, but I opted for the safest option in the end.
Looks fantastic Jamie really like it mate !!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you don't mind me saying, and I only mean to help but I m not sure your rear brake line is fitted correctly. The only reason I noticed is I made exactly the same mistake and someone else spotted it on mine in a photo and let me know. It seems all the slack is at the caliper end and at the other end where the swing arm pivots the brake line is very taut and straight with no obvious slack to allow free movement as the swingarm moves up and down when riding. Maybe its just the photo and I ve got it totally wrong and I mean it in the nicest possible way. Somebody helped me with the same issue so just attempting to do the same, hope you don't mind me trying to help.
I think your right now I look at it thank you, I was not sure if it was correct will even it out so there is some free play at the swing arm end Thanks for pointing it out, no need to appologise for pointing out my stupidity my wife does it all the time so I am used to it
That looks really awesome Jamie. I would not have been as brave to try it but it really works. Perhaps you should have worked for Honda, some of their paint schemes over the years could have been a bit better.
