Hi What am I doing wrong? Tried to fit my standard can and I could not get this over the existing pipe, as the gasket would not go over and got ruined in the process.. the gasket was in the can end when I was trying to fit. Where does the servo wire attach? And is this needed? So need a new gasket - is this a main dealer part? Also what is this...is this a CAT?
The gaskets can sometimes fall apart when trying to reuse them. The cable attaches to the exhaust servo which is located under the seat, personally wouldn’t bother reattaching it. Yes that’s the CAT.
Thanks..as I though the cat was in the original end can... So my cat is in place as is the one in the headers..as I was told there are 2 on the 15 plate blade. Is this just an end can and a link pipe? Would there be another pip that would replace the cat if needed? Surprised the Austin can is loud even with the cat in place .
Yes, just a 'slip on' - i.e. end can and link pipe as opposed to fully system. Re. the original exhaust, I just refitted mine Saturday; make sure you fully loosen the clamp and flatten the gasket with your finger, then gently offer it up to the collector pipe and gently slip it on and rotate clockwise and c/clockwise until fully home. The cable attaches to the servo motor under the seat, there are three of those crappy push fit/screw connectors to get out, then use a small flat blade screwdriver to gently prise the cover off and voila, the servo motor cable reel is exposed....fit the cable nipple in to its housing then route the cable in the groove, replace the cover and then your done. Dont forget to tighten the clamp up!
