I stumbled across this video yesterday, thought it was really detailed and useful. Might even attempt to remove the fairing myself with this as a guide: In the comments on YT he's also put links in to replacement fasteners and the radiator he bought from China, (although if you watch the video in full you'll see he did need to make a few adjustments to the radiator to make it fit).
The fairing removal for 06-07 is a doddle and you can have everything off within 30min. As for the clips, you can pick up a pack of the push rivets off eBay for a few quid. I bought a pack a while a go and only used a couple.
I replaced my radiator on my RR7 this week using the same rad and method, its a doddle. Fitment is slightly off but everything goes on and back together. One of the mounting brackets arrived bent so they refunded me £30. I just bent it back.
I don't know why I bother! Ordered a radiator yesterday from this country, due to arrive by Wednesday, so thought I'd have a bash at doing the job myself. Not even got as far as removing the lower fairing panels and I'm stuck. One of the bolts holding the fairing I'm guessing is not original as the allen key head size on it is different to all the others. Not an issue in itself but the bolt just spins without undoing, the others were fine but not this one. It's like there's a capture nut inside the fairing and the whole thing is spinning. I can't get pliers or anything else inside the gap in the fairing though to hold it. I now have two options, a) put the other bolts back in, ride to local garage and ask them to do the job, (wish I'd done that in the first place), or, b) rely on the only tool I have that I am skilled in using, a lump hammer. Right now I'm 50/50
Can you remove the fairing panels with the seized fixing still in place? I had this years ago on one of mine, it was a tricky job to drill the head off the fixing on the bench. All the fairing fixings can seize if not moved regularly, I'm meticulous mechanically and mine still get stiff after a while. The radiator is a simple swap but fiddly. There's videos of it on YouTube. I assume you have an OEM manual or at least a Haynes?
Which one is spinning? It may just be a well nut and if that is the case then as @RR7 said you may well be able to remove the fairing with it in place.
Thanks for the replies. Took a deep breath and went to have another look, (without my hammer). The bolt that spins without undoing is the one nearest the ground and the front of the bike. Looks like it just holds the lower fairing to the middle fairing so in theory, if the middle piece comes undone without any bother, I can just remove both pieces in one go. Have managed to get the lower fairing off the other side of the bike, no issues with the bolts that side. My priority for now is just to try and sort the radiator, get it back together and enjoy the rest of the summer. Over winter it looks like I'll be taking all the fairing off and potentially replacing the bolts and doing some other remedial work. Already noticed that both clips on the little 'V' piece of fairing that sits below the radiator have snapped, (prior to me touching it)
Get it done between now and Friday then as it will p1ss it down, then you're ready for a sunny couple of days this weekend
