Some information that may be of use to you guys wanting to thrash your SC82s on track.

HRC wants you to break them in right ;):D
And run more oil.... and considerign the HRC kit contains no upgraded internal hard parts other than clutch discs and springs, Honda believes your motors are ready for battle as they are

Just ignore the part about the oil line melting and spewing oil on the hot exhaust headers and bursting in flames :D

But if you do plan on thrashing your SC82 about fo the entire season of track days, be sur eto keep up on your maintenance schedule.

Those are all stock internals after all

its not exactly an everyday type of bike then, bit too fussy and focused for me im afraid, and to make matters worse the bloody thing grasses you up to the dealer via a dashboard warning if you use the launch control more than recommended so a clutch inspection is then required

Yes, but that's because every magazine pissed and moaned that the Fireblade was too much of an all-rounder......

So Honda changed it up and delivered a SuperStock-ready bike off the floor. This is the Honda equivalent of the Ducati V4R.

It will be fun to see these same magazine jerks complain that the Triple-R is too track focused and not enough of an all rounder.

I think the new Fireblade is brilliant, but it might hurt the Fireblade brand in the end for being too razor sharp.

I agree to a certain extent but the V4R seems a more premium product the new Blade just seems a bit low rent compared to the Ducati can’t get away from the naff paint on the frame and swing arm and bloody pillion pegs just don’t seem right for the price.
Overall Honda are trying to save face and play catch up at the same time this is probably the Blade they should have built in 2017 instead of the misguided stopgap they unleashed on the public
All the Japanese brands barring Kawasaki have let the Europeans get the edge in the market and just don’t have the model diversity that say Ducati have, don’t get me wrong I love my Blade to bits but nothing from the big H or the other Japanese manufacturers at present would consider me to trade in/up

Honda probably haven't been too fussed because there isn't the market in Europe anymore. And, they don't buy Fireblades in the East. I can't think what has spurred them on to develop a whole new bike. Of course they are charging £5k premium but will they get the investment back?

At the bike show I thought it was a little cramped. It'll be interesting to see what I think with it on the move.

I’ve ridden one and yes it’s ballistic fast and turns well but it’s all a bit much for a road bike it’s like when you ride a supermoto a real blast for twenty minutes then gets a bit tiresome just not for me I’m afraid I think the novelty would wear thin and to be honest who can say hand on heart they would get the best out of something so extreme on the road

It is a bit much for the road but every litre bike for the last 10 years has also been a bit much for the road.
I think it's a cracking bike and I certainly wouldn't say it wasnt as 'premium' as the ducati v4. 10 mins on google or on duke forums wouldnt suggest the v4 was that premium. Recalls, breakdowns, failures galore ( but certainly prettier)
Now the new stressed out blade may be the same , it's too early to know, but I would doubt it and despite its cramped style and peaky performance envelope I would gamble it's better screwed together and thus perhaps a better long term.bet.
    Who knows?
I struggle to use the 10k+ rpm range on the sc77 without it lifting and getting a bit squirrily so I know the 2020 RRR prob isn't for me ( plus there is no place to squeeze my beer belly in)
Either way I think it's great bikes like this are still being built and giving us the opportunity to buy if we so desire.
Remember another 20 years and everything will have a bloody big Duracell between your legs :(

So numbers through 12.5 k for mine ....settlement is 12k as devalued quicker than a Skoda ....500 in pot is 380 a month 2800 down is 300 a month hence to say keeping my 2018 sp then will see what's about next March...also wait to see if any recall issues with 1st gen.....as only a toy in anthor 12 weeks or so would be only sat in the garage devaluing ....come March someone may have bought one hardly used it and save a few grand or Honda may have a better fianance deals

    Yup still pricey then.
I'm still happy I bought one of the last sc77 sp's available.
Okay it's a 2018my but was still brand new unregistered and thy knocked about 3500 squid off and then put the rest on 0%
The monthly saving alone against the 2020 they priced up for me would have bought me a decent new car on pcp!
Hang in there as the discounts wont be that far away. Coming up to the Sept plate change wont be helping either

The thing is if Covid hadn't arrived the deliveries would have started so much earlier and as we approached the seasons end you could have expected some discounting next month.
Never mind it will come so just enjoy what you've got for a little longer :D

Your lucky to get offered that for yours, there worth less than 10 grand now, i am going to presume they are throwing some discount on the new bike to compensate for the terrible depreciation. I am more than happy to keep my 2018 SP. I appreciate its exciting to be buying the new bike, it was the same when i bought my SP. but i will never throw that money at a bike again. If you a buying these bikes you have to accept you are in it for the long term, if thats the case then its fun all the way. There are exceptional bikes, i still love of my SP and how it sounds glorious. Buying new i suppose we never learn

at the end of the day still got a great bike.....plenty for the road however the lastest and greatest is better ......what did it for our model was the bad press when the tea drinker got spat off and rotten teeth got launched by a box of frogs gearbox which was totally different from the road bikes ...plus limited succuess at racing and just like cars the higher you go with price the higher you fall....the car has lost 30.k in 3 yrs ffs....

Yes I totally agree, it was unfortunate because it is an awesome bike, however even if you look at the GFV on the new one its pants, you should be able to go from a two to a three year old bike with a reasonable return, loyalty counts for nothing.

Honda have no faith in the used value on these bikes, even the new one is just the same but with an even higher price tag. They threw the 0% in which was one thing and yes I benefited from that but to then throw in a 2 grand discount which I missed out on by a few weeks just destroys the buying experience or any enthusiasm to upgrade. Still i know thats life and i hope the new bike works out, i am a Honda man and want the company to succeed no matter what bitter pills i get off on
