Thinking about having a little switch over with the blade and swapping a few mods out. How often do you change your mind on your mods? Do you do the research before you buy and purchase knowing you’ve made the best decision that suits your needs? Or do you see something shiny, and buy it only to be bored with it after 6 months? What mods were your best smiles for cash? What mods do you wish you didn’t buy/make?
I’m not one for bling or performance parts really - so what I’ve done tend to be less contentious. The only item bought and not used were the LED bulbs that I gave to you (as they weren’t compatible with the doppellicht conversion).
There are a few mods that came with my bike that I find useful. Heated Grips being one of them, (which does make me sound about 100 I know)! I ride all year round in 'Summer' gloves so being able to flick the grips on when out in winter makes all the difference. Just takes the edge of enough to be able to focus on riding, rather than not being able to feel my fingers. Very unobtrusive the rest of the time, I forget the control switch is there when not using. The other mod I find useful is the crash bungs. Useful if I drop it I presume but the reason I mention them is when I recently removed/refitted the fairing they helped no end. They're the type where you cut the fairing to fit them and initially I thought I'd have to remove them to remove the fairing but discovered there was enough wiggle room not to do so. Where they really helped was refitting, I could slot the fairing onto them and it just held it in place loosely enough to get the bolts/inner fairing in line before I tightened everything up. The one mod I did, which I regret, is the rear sprocket nuts. Had a new C&S fitted and noticed the nuts were looking very tatty so decided to replace them as well. As it was a gold Renthal sprocket I decided to buy gold nuts from Sports Bike Shop. Only issue is they're a different colour gold to the sprocket and therefore look, frankly, sh1te
I'm pretty consistent with my mods, usually it's an exhaust, racing screen, engine covers.... I rarely get bored or swap them out. Also little extras like sprocket nuts, chain guards, ahem! Heel guards and of course decals!!!! .... All the usual cosmetic stuff. Rarely any mechanical or performance mods though. Incidentally the first three items I mentioned will be for sale in the near future as I turn the SP back to standard ready for its return I say near..... Give it 12 months
I’m pretty consistent with the parts and accessories I buy. Always start off with full crash protection, tail tidy, levers and an exhaust change. Tail tidy and exhaust change just for the look/bling factor, levers because I have hobbit hands and the crash protection for its intended use. I may have a habit of dropping bikes.....but the crash protection has always done its job. Once they’re on I don’t really change them out. I bought my blade with most of the stuff on it already, probably the best bang for buck and cheap thing I did was the LED Headlight bulbs. Much better performance than the incandescent and it just makes the bike look a bit more modern (if that’s your bag)
Mine's a 2006, the bungs are R&G. Won't be everyone's cup of tea, cutting a small hole in the fairing will be sacrilege to some, quite understandably but it's exactly that which allows you to hang them off the bungs.
