With all the lovely weather we’ve been having, it got me to thinking... How hot has the weather got to be before you won’t ride your bike? I’m out on the blade tonight and it’s approx. 33 degrees today. Wouldn’t normally ride out in that but needs must (I need some 2 wheel lovin’!) Ridden before in 36 degrees for an hour or so and got heatstroke; even stopped for numerous refreshments in the shade. Where’s your limit for pleasure riding? And what do you wear in the heat? I still tog you in full leathers. I’d rather sweat and have the skin to do it again the next day
The heat doesn't bother me to much, although I do try to stay out of the midday sun if possible. White bike and leathers helps a little. I like a early morning ride out to avoid traffic. Leathers everytime unless im popin to shops or mot. Used to wear biker jeans and jacket to work but i drive now.
I never bother to take the joke to work, well very seldom at least. Takes longer to get her out than to get there and she just stares at me all day and I have to leave early
Heats got to me too, forgot how, now remembered how to but if I edit it now it will look REALLY silly
Depends what I've been doing. If I am out on the bike early in the day then I don't care how hot it gets, but if like today it was silly hot before I finished work and was dripping sweat from an earlier walk then I just don't bother.
I have been off this week so getting out early for a ride every morning since Sunday, have been getting out by 6.30am each day, still wearing one piece leathers even in this heat. Forecast looking a bit iffy for the next few days but still hope to get out next few mornings.
Heat doesn't bother me but at wkend still out by 7am as 20c to 23c is about right always in full leathers just wear a thin under layer designed for high temps and when stop rather than have a coffee have a large cold drink other day had a red bull bad mistake buzzing made me go like stink...heart rate through the roof....once temp gets up mid 30c get be arrsed to get all the gear on
Also gettin on very well with new Arai racing vents work really well and keep head cool do wear ear plugs but also good noise level and very stable at speed
Some of the roads melt round us so have to be careful when full sun 28+ , always leathers, do not ride mornings as don't wake up fully til dinner time, I have heard a rumour there is two 6.30's in a day
38deg in Cannes and Monaco on a 1299 at 115deg bike temp, with full leathers in stop start traffic, how I never passed out or got heatstroke I'll never know. On another note I havent been out due to its too hot, and too many police about atm not worth it.
Heat never stopped me, normally in full leathers but was out in high thirties (coz the belly wont fit in it any more!) in my new goretex gear and it was actually bearable. I might be an all year textile convert!
Heat never stops me going out , Went out at 2 this afternoon all kitted up for a ride to the beach at Silcroft about 80 miles away in the lake district. Stopped had a slurp of water then came back home ringing wet with sweat
It's always the young 'uns that ride around in shorts & tees. I agree with @mk3golfcab. I'd rather have the discomfort of being hot than the discomfort of having no skin left. I searched ages for a pair of vented jeans & eventually settled on these. Brilliant vents, well made, great fit & (IMO) look good. Hip armour bought separately & velcros in. No anti-glide patch on bum though. Might get one sewn on.
Last night, me and my friend in full gear, were getting followed by a tw@ on a GSXR with shorts and vest on, riding like a complete tool overtaking in a busy town. No need for it IMO
Heat never really stops me me. On blade recently went out at 33c . Not bad when you are moving . Worse one ever was a td years ago at cadwell park. Was 36 degrees and was dying flying around track. Me and mates had a paddling pool set up so kept jumping in that when i could lol
High 20's is about my limit. If you can get all your gear on and get the bike out of the garage without dripping with sweat in this heat then you're doing well. This heatwave could become quite expensive for me, I've just put a new outfit in my basket on sportsbikeshop.....riding jeans, street boots and new Dainese leather jacket. I'm still trying to justify it to myself
I wouldn't necessarily be put off by the heat but as a rule I tend to be out before 7 in a morning and back home by 10. I much prefer the quieter roads and the missus has less to grumble about if we've got most of the day 'together'. I'm always in leathers, would feel like driving a car without a seat belt if I didn't have them on.
I consider it to hot to ride a sports bike when the heat effects sleep patterns. Not just my amount of sleep but other road users too. However still ride the dirtbike or supermoto as speeds are slower and bikes more agile.
