...before getting on your bike. How long before this hits the UK and they don't anonymise the data? On the upside many new cars already have the tech to save you the bother as they will upload it for you automatically https://www.theregister.com/2020/09/25/spain_bulk_phone_data_speeding/
I bought one of these to put my phone in. Sure you cannot receive calls and messages but take it out and it connects again. Very useful against spies ! only about £10
That’s great thing comrades, we are all equal, just those above us are more equal than the rest of us. Used to think it was just blinkered communist states that were like this, oh no, our so called democracies are identical, it’s just they do it in a more subtle way. You see it at simple local levels, parish councils etc, people join up with wonderful ideas of helping their communities and some do, but a proportion do it to have control over the masses, it’s where they get their kick from, and then won’t let go and stay on these committees for years and years through lack of inertia by the rest of us, and finally when you realise what’s going on, it’s too late, they have surrounded themselves with trusted lieutenants and you can’t break the bubble. Not that I am angry about it or anything thing, but it’s exactly the way our local gestapo parish council has been run for as long as I can remember. Early morning rant over, back to me tea and toast
luckily we have left ( maybe ) the EU. I am almost sure they are making all new vehicles have black boxes that will not let it break any speed limit. this was coming in around 2022. I assume this is to do with bringing in driverless cars
Spoke to soon. Auto express says New cars sold in the UK will be fitted with mandatory speed limiters from 2022, after the Department for Transport confirmed it will follow a ruling from the European Commission on safety technology, regardless of whether the UK is in the European Union.
Even worse, my son is a mechanic and for a warranty claim, they have to send all the data logger info so they can see exactly how you have driven the vehicle speeds etc, the dealership also use this for courtesy cars just in case there is a speeding ticket so don't thrash the tits off them.
Can only hope the ECU hackers figure a way around all this shit, I'm fed up with companies I pay money to who still think I am the product.
aren't the EV already restricted to 99mph? Back in 2008, I bought my CBR because there was a lot of chatter about the whole europe imposing a blanket 100PS on all bikes as it has been in france
The data has readily been collected and used for years. Most real time traffic data comes from. The likes of Tom Tom sat navs. Every other car has a sat navy connected to a number of satellites even if your not using it. It doesn't just receive data it sends data too so if your stuck in traffic and other connected sat navs on the same road are stationary or going slow the logarithms pick this up and send a real time alert showing delays. So the satellites have known and recorded your speed for many years just now they are going to flog it to the old bill via the council so they can issue more fines
GPS aka sat nav is a one way communication. You gps handheld, car or tomtom does not send any data away. Traffic density is collected from physical sensors in the road and any data enabled mobile device. Prime example is wake which collects positioning data through your mobile network. Tomtom models which can give you real time traffic update use a SIM which is connected to their data network. So if you have a gps only device, you are safe from the prying eyes
Bonjo your probably right there and my mistake. Referring to sat navs was just me using it in a generic built into car sense but yes all those cars I was recalling had built in Sims so it nay well be the sim thats is tracked as it were
Interestingly I stumbled upon a facility to request all the data BMW were holding on my car so I clicked request. Bugger me when it came through it even listed when the car windows had been opened ! WtF, what would they possibly need that level of detail for? Scarey whats being collected without us knowing, just a click here and perhaps NOT clicking here and your deemed to have voluntarily given your life to a corporation
Yes currently SIM is the only way to communicate back with big brother(who’s watching you). I’m very sensitive to this erosion of privacy. That’s why on my mobile phone I always check and disable any form of tracking in the set up unless it is necessary for my needs. Do you use google map on you phone? It asks you to log in to your account and when you do, it starts tracking you as you may have concluded I heavily rate 1984 and”Minority report”
Absolutely Paul. If you have a club card from Tesco and use it at the check out, it collects every it, you purchased with time + date stamp for many years. you can request a download and you’ll be shocked. Remember you digital footprint is a gold mine to corporation aaand crooks (some say what’s the difference )
See below my car has the ability to send BMW 8 pages of questions on its status and where its been what its location is, what the air temp is what direction its pointing blah blah Unbelievable, I'm buying an analogue car next !!
