Quicker and easier to just put it in the pouch before going for a spin - take it out and it is ready to use again in about 3 seconds. Handy if you want to do quick roadside picture, send a message, look at the net for something - and just put it back in the pouch - it will connect again when you take it out again. I have a TomTom sat nav as well. The thing is not to connect it to your computer. The software prompts to connect to download "updates" - yeah right "updates". It is a con to get you to connect it to the computer so it can skim your data. If it said - connect this Sat Nav to a computer so we can read the data off it - you likely would not. So they encourage you do it so you can receive an "update". Yea right - you need to run "updates" in case a new motorway has been built since last month.
Flight mode, aptly named as I enable it before jumping on the Honda wings. ps, no idea if this actually solves this problem.
That's a good idea, never thought of that. That might work. But the pouch thing still has some physical protection for the phone as well so likely I will keep using it.
Flight mode turns off the mobile network Rx/Tx; blue tooth and wifi functions off saves a little on battery and is the safest process next to turning your phone off. The pouch is mainly good for protecting your new generation keyless entry/ engine start vehicles. ALways important to check the privacy and mobile data access in your phone settings. Tomtom and sat nav's need either direct connection to your wifi (if they have the facility) or though your PC to download map data via their program on your PC. It is no different to any other times when you download data like you operating system;as long as you trust the source
My BMW service guy regularly tells me "put you seat belt on", its on vehicle check faults or sommit apparently
