As I’m starting to spend quite a while without my 2017 RA-H as it’s in for another repair, I thought I’d check in with you folks that have either swapped to or added to your collection, the RR-R and find out whether there are any issues, faults or niggles with the new machine? I imagine it’s too early for gremlins or issues to have emerged but I’m wondering whether all is tikateboo!
Only done 800 miles with no probs. There is/was a Honda recall for checking the torque on the sump bolts. Mine was okay, but if they don't meet spec, the fairings, rad, headers have to come off to gain proper access.
Hi guys it's little old me. Yes 4600 miles on her with 2X track days comings up this week. 1 front and 2 rear tyres replaced, no problems with one recall on sump bolts to be checked for correct torque or looseness. Loving the bike and you get used to the tall gearing so I just ride it like a 600, really opened it up Sunday with bit of a drag race, past 10 grand wow which I've had before but past 13 grand, OMG you have to hang on for dear life. I must admit though as an everyday road bike some people are going to be disappointed, this bike isn't for everyone but if you own or are thinking of getting one you just have to take it to the track where it comes into its own.
Wow, 4600 miles already..! That's going some - I thought my 8k miles per year was pretty high on my blade (which since lockdown is probably more like 500 miles per year - also known as @nigelrb typical annual mileage perhaps). How are the brake pads doing - need a new set yet? I found 1 track day on my standard blade ate through about 75% of my front pads (still on original rear pads at 16k miles). I think the only recall there has been on the RA-H was the leaky fuel filler cap (that could let water in), otherwise no recalls. A sump bolt torque recall sounds potentially messy (if it does come loose - presumably under torqued given the "looseness" comment). Wishing you many more trouble-free miles (maybe go easy on that rear rubber though..). Cheers.
Ok, I need to correct that, I see you've clocked up 800 miles already so, at this rate you'll be putting my annual mileage to shame!
Oops, forgot about the front pads, changed mine at 3500 miles but when I compared them to the new ones, I'd say they were about half worn, so not too bad. Sump thing wasn't a biggie, guessing some dealers have reported finding some loose after the Conrod Inspection done in Spain during lockdown. I was on furlough for a while so made the most of getting out while I could, hence the big mileage plus I live in North Wales in which we have some great roads to ride.
What do you think is the issue with the abs here @Ritchierich when they say it's dismal?!?...they don't go into anymore detail which is frustrating...
Can't say I had an issue but then again I not a racer but not a snail either. On track I was using ABS mode 1 (Track) and have to say the brakes are very powerful and at no time did I feel any brake intervention from the electronics which in a way I'm happy about
800 miles, I think I've now got the lowest miles on here still under 700 miles, SP2 hasn't been ridden since June (started new employment so really busy) bought her back from 1st service at dealers in Plymouth
Felt like Honda had 'contributed' to that review in a particular way didn't it? Not a single mention of a negative, and look how Michael Mann shot down the line of thought any time it headed in that direction Obviously the bike isn't 'perfect'. If you're over 5'10" your knees are round your ears for starters.
It would seem that way @dmc12 , however after covering nearly 5000 miles on mine including 3 track days I think what they've said is pretty spot on. I'm just under 6 foot and there is plenty of room on the bike and doesn't feel crammed at all, however after doing the Anglesey Circuit a couple of weeks ago with the pegs been high getting my knee down became bit of a challenge which wasn't a problem on the 2017 SP. Plus using the gears more just like you would on a 600cc machine, I love the bike but each to their own I say.
How different does the 20SP feel to the 17SP on track? Do you need to ride it any differently? Obviously it's got some more oomph up top...
The differences I felt were in the handling and obviously the power but the somewhat tall gearing on the 2020 meant that to get good drive out of the corner I'd be in 1st gear (A very usable gear) whereas on the 2017 I'd of been in 2nd and I found this when I did Oulton Park too.
