yup, it’s ace. It’s got bar risers as standard and lowish pegs... think upright bike with sport bike looks. Super comfortable like a naked and handles like it’s on rails. well worth getting a test ride mate....
Next year, yup. Was supposed to go to Italy this year in June, COVID put the jokers on that... First time in 9 years we haven’t been away... really missed it mate. Done 5,000 on the duc this year, plenty of 300-400 mile days though.
Ah bollocks. Can't wait til they get this crap sorted. Really sick of it now. My mate and I are making plans for next year. God knows if it'll come off.
From my experience dealers are much more flexible when it comes to accessories or extras rather than a price reduction on the bike itself. I have purchased 3 bikes brand-new so far and I always managed to get something thrown in for free, be it a quickshifter, slide protection, first service or extended warranty.
speaking from a dealer parts counter life new bikes coming in are scarce at mo due to covid . all manufacturers have put margins up so little room in bike discounts but parts still have 20/30/40 % in them so easy to do a deal with them.
Think this is why all these Euro based companies are so much cheaper for OEM parts than your local dealer even with shipping included, can’t remember the last time I paid rip off Honda UK prices on parts.
oem honda are expensive for sure. off road wise ktm/husky/gas gas are shocking yam and kawasaki ok montessa bad sherco bad beta very bad we don't do suzuki so all that is aftermarket for us so not too bad. and of course road ktm and husky that we do are expensive. I can get road honda and do as its at cost but resale prices are poop. if I didnt work in trade I'd not afford my projects on similar wage.
I always found the deals only came with pcp as they made commission on them. Thought the days of cash deals dwindled away some time back. R1 would love to have one of them. Maybe in January I’ll have a shop around and see what offers are available.
Congrats on the new bike Mattie, What a Beauty. The riding position must be so much more comfortable compared to your previous R1. Looks great for touring. I am also thinking of going air cooled, BMW are updating the R9T for 2021, Will book a test ride when available.
Thanks Andy - even the non bike minded people in the office think it looks great and were interested to have a look at a Ducati. Riding wise - just get on and it all fits fine unless, I suppose, you are unusually small or large. Clutch is super easy and the bike is plenty quick enough - don't believe anyone that says that the 821 is some kind of learner bike ! These big twins like the BMW are a different riding experience for sure. Good luck with the test ride - I am sure it will be a blast on that !
