I've seen that MSV have made it mandatory that all bikes must have one for next year onwards... I'm guessing this will be across the board for all circuits???.. So I've been looking online and my question is this... Anyone know what size the OEM clip on internal diameter is?? (I'll stop being lazy and look myself at the weekend but just wondered if anyone knew??) TIA
It's something I need to sort out too, I seem to think the CBR1000RR has an insert in the OEM handlebars (clipons) which I need to figure out how to remove or alternatively find a guard that can be fitted with it in place.
Looks nice though! did it come with a "universal" adaptor?? I've seen a few nice ones online at a reasonable price (Bonamici, TWM, Accossato) but for example the Bonamici says it is designed to fit "after market" clipons.... the pricey but very nice Lightech ones get you to pay a further £25 for an adaptor!! think I'll whip off my bar ends this weekend and get the measuring tape out ..

I got this from Dave Dunlop on here for a really good price otherwise it's not something I would have really considered getting. Il be honest I had a mate fit it for me as he had done the same to his blade. From memory it was more getting the innards of the original bar end out which was a pain. Think there was some sort of clip that holds something in the bar tube. The guard went on fairly quickly once the original was off. Cant remember there being an adaptor but maybe the R&G on is made specifically per model?
Nice one.... Remember having a few in from sponsors hence the cheap price! They all pretty much do the same job, just some look nicer than others. Just take your time to get the right fittings and clearances ....
So it looks like the vibration weights inside the clipon tubes have to be removed in order to fit one? There doesn't seem to be anything that fits onto the existing bar end.
Think that's right yeah. Its held in with some fiddly clip too. I assumed these would have slipped over the end of the existing bar end rather than fixing internally to the bar tube but suppose it needs that for strength un the event it needs to do its job.

To be quite honest I find it absurd that MSV are now applying this as a blanket policy. Have you or anyone you know ever heard of a brake lever entanglement crash on a track day? But yet MSV gave me the massive brush off a couple of months back after both I and my brother's friend were taken out by dangerous riding in the first session of the day at Bedford, breaking my pelvis and destroying his shoulder. I had simply queried why they couldn't do either or both of: 1) Pit lane briefing about riding standards expected before riders allowed out (in the absence of indoor on day briefings due to covid) 2) Riders clearly adjudged to cause an accident through dangerous riding not being allowed to continue their day (i.e. an actual deterrent - both riders in our accidents were able to continue, whilst I was fast-tracked to hospital.) Madness.
according to one of the lads on the Ducati forum, sadly someone died last year from a brake lever entanglement which might explain this???.... How are you healing up @dmc12 ?? Lets hope 2021 trackdays are a bit calmer than this years seeming crash fests....

Well if there was a fatality that would certainly explain it. Thanks for asking @Frazzle - the pelvis is almost better now, been riding again for about a month although getting the left leg up is still a bit sore. Really wanted to get in another track day before the end of the season but missed the boat with the second lockdown. Bike is still in the garage waiting parts, at least one of the benefits of having two is that I get still get out!

That link you posted was a different one sadly, think it was snetterton with the lever... Seemed to be a lot more reports of incident this year sadly.... Lets hope if we get a full calendar next year it all calms down a bit! I've not done Bedford before so might pick a day when a few from here go.. Maybe we could do a lil forum one and setup a thread nearer the time, I think @dern is up there a fair bit too and May be we can entice a few more
