Think I'm about to reach the point where I'd like to get the bike custom mapped. I've been slowly modifying over the last few years and want to get it done. The stock maps off the dyno website seem excessively thirsty to me. Mods will include, PCV fitted, PAIR delete with block off plates, Akra slip-on with exhaust valve delete, Translogic iS4 quickshifter, intake flapper mod and K&N air filter. (Some of this list are this winters projects) Can anyone recommend a decent dyno tuner in the North of England within reasonable reach of Warrington? Thanks in advance!
I’m contemplating Jordan Bikes in Leeds... they have been mentioned as being good there are plenty of reviews and videos on Youtube.
Think I've found a couple of places local that I'm going to get in touch with in the spring. Peter Alton at OTC dyno Centre Widnes http://www.otcdynocentre.co.uk/index.php/9 Or P3 tuning in Liverpool https://p3tuning.com/
Just had another place recommended to me by a relative thats local, will report back in the spring with the results! https://www.2machsmotorcycles.com/
Just want to make sure its running as well as it can be really. Its pretty good with one of the maps off the dynojet website, it makes it really grunty low down and stops that lurch you can get at 4k. But its made it quite thirsty!
I’m looking forward to seeing results on mine with a fabricated link pipe and end can (original headers) in comparison to my mates £2k+ Akra system.
Undecided, thinking about hacking it out or getting it cut out and link pipe made. Got some pics of your link pipe? Where did you get it done? Headers off or done in situ?
I’ve not had it made yet. Jordan Bikes put me onto a place in Wakefield called STG Performance. I’ve been in touch with them and they want me to take the bike in so they can measure up then make one. I’ll keep you posted and get some pics up when I take it in.
Do you think it's going to be worth it? I'm a bit undecided. The cat might even be keeping the noise down to sensible levels which is what I need for trackdays.
I think unless you want to squeeze every ounce of power from your engine to give you a competitive edge on a race track, then it’s probably not worth it. It’ll probably be slightly louder, but not by much.
I’ll let you know. My mate who just put the Akra system on has kindly donated me his standard system so mine can go back to standard if required. I just de-cat and map anything I have it’s a habit I think.
It's a good habit. Are there proven gains for the blade having a decat? I cut and knocked out my CAT on a Z1000, it made a considerable difference. I guess that wasn't tuned within an inch of its life from factory though. If they could cut it in such a way that if you needed to refit it for track noise purposes that would be good. I can't imagine a decat pushing you over the limit though, unless you're running an SC screamer that is.
Took mine to Race HQ Leeds It was like riding in on a 600 and riding out on a 1000 Difference was incredible. So much more low down torque He even tweaked my suspension while I was there Highly recommend
Did you go on with a complete new header set Andrew, or cut out and sleeve? Guessing you would need to run a power commander after to have it setup?
It was a decat system and power commander I fitted the system then rode to Race HQ for the power commander and custom map. Amazing results
