Hi all, Been looking at replacing the yellow looking bulbs in my RR6 do you guys have any recommendations? I don't want to go down the route of HIDs. Been looking at Philip's White Vision, Diamon Vision and allsorts including Osram but the reviews seem to be all over the place. Thanks.
I replaced the entire headlight on my BMW F700gs for a very modern LED system. Never looked to see if they do them for blades but might be worth looking at. The LED unit has been on a year now and a huge upgrade over the halogen junk that was fitted. A true plug and play job so easy to swap over. If they are available for blades they will be more expensive but so easy to change and a great upgrade.
Went from this To this Osram Cool Blue Intense Xenon look 64193CBI-HCB and the position light is a W5W replaced by a LED, and the main bulbs in colour are close to the LED, the blurb claims up to 4200K. Bottom line is, if nothing else the dopey wankers in tin pots see a whiter light, so hopefully they are now making a judgement on if they are about to kill you rather than being oblivious to you when pulling out of a junction.
What year blade? I've got a 2015 and I've just changed to LED. I used a small company called autoLED UK. Not expensive and the H7's went straight in. A little tricky to get he retaining spring on but no mods needed.
I think they were 25 quid with a free packet of Harribos, WINNING!!!! Next day delivery to. I've used his bulbs in all my bikes and cars to be honest. Never had an issue.
No, there was just enough clearance but I'm not sure if the earlier model has the same clearance. They're only slightly larger than the standard bulb.
Mk3golfcab you have some serious lighting power there that's for sure!! I don't feel comfortable with LED's with regards to heat etc so thinking a halegon setup to give some sort of improvemen Stevie_d that certainly looks alot whiter over the standard yellowy colour - I think that will be the winner for what I require. How do you find the them riding at night compared to standard? Thanks for all your help!!
Never ride at night so couldn’t say , just know it’s a lot whiter light . Should be ok as they are a decent make bulb Philips
I was worried about the heat too, the bulbs had a heat sink on the rear and also a powered fan. I checked after almost every ride for any issues with the actual headlight but it was all good. Tried them in the evening once and I have to say they weren’t the best, they threw the light out in a very scattered beam, not really projecting more light where you need it. Bike got through the MOT but tbh my tester is a legend with stuff like that (also he was too busy laughing at my massive number plate ). Great for being spotted in the daylight though
Are they better in the car Liam or still more about being seen more easily rather than lighting things up further away?
Seem better @Boothman, it could be that I’m just a nervous night rider (limited experience, and always with crappy halogen bulbs previously(and at ridiculous speeds )). More confident night driving in the car and so far so good, I’d go so far as to say *almost* as good as the xenons in newer family wagon.
These Philips Extreme vision bulbs are excellent. I like riding fast in the dark (in Spring / Summer / Autumn) and so I want to see as well as I can. I've used these bulbs for the last 7 years in my Fireblade. They only last about 3 years (but it's an easy roadside bulb swap to replace your dud dip bulb with the one from the main beam of it fails). They are loads brighter, and are as good as the manufacturer fitted LEDs in my Kawasaki Z1000sx. I used the same bulbs in my old BMW z4 car and they transformed that too. I recommend them very strongly. They also look much brighter to other traffic.
