Just a quick one if it's of any use to anyone. I'm not giving away anything here isn't common knowledge but just in case you don't know... often, when you take a picture on your phone, the location of the picture is encoded in the picture metadata. So, you take a picture of your bike at home, post it online and someone can easily find out where you live. Do a bit of research online as to how to turn this feature off on your phone. If you don't want to do that then you can download tools to strip the data from the picture before posting. I guess that some forum software might do it for you but worth checking. The reason I mention this is that at about 8pm last night some lads forced the doors on our integral garage trying to take the bikes. I'm guess they saw one or other on the drive recently but thought I'd mention the above possibility if you're unaware of it. Fortunately they took off with nothing after I shouted at them and I was able to fix the damage and secure everything. Cheers, Mark
You can also set the device not to tag the geo info on photos/app. In Apple its under privacy/location services. Just set to never for camera, facebook, insta etc where you do not want to give away location.
Thanks for that - had never even considered before. Hope the scum bags slipped on the ice running away and have since died in a ditch.
If you got images already you want to clean up and remove metadata, plenty of free tools out there that will do that. Exif metadata is a decent one
Pity Mark, thought you was gonna say you disembowlled them, sliced their eyes out, angle grinded their fingers and toes off and for good measure rammed an Abba stand up their arses......... anyway shouting at them seems to have worked, so good start my man
I always screen shot a photo before I share it so there is know info attached.. I've seen ads on fb etc where the seller has taken a photo with a street sign in the background. Just be careful
Admitting speeding and dragging thieves in to the woods on the internet is a bad idea Fucking tired now. Woke up every 5 minutes all night to every bloody noise going. Achieved nothing all day except researching padlocks and cctv.
Once you have the physical security sorted, look at a Bisley Alarm Mine, essentially its a 12 gauge blank primed to go off if tripped, obvs needs careful consideration where it is deployed but you will know if anyone is trying to break in and will be able to track em by the trail of poo
Quite right mate. Shitty scumbags will live a life of nothingness but you will always have your family even long after your toys have gone to toy heaven and said shitty scumbags are still living lives of nothingness
I find the metadata very usefull is finding out when & where the photo was taken specially instances you can be legally exposed. however like so many tech/ it innovation; it also has it's dark side. How about fitting a simple shed/ garage WIRED alarm with magnetic relay closure to the door?
I had posted this ages ago because some one off vtr1000.org told me about it and told me where I lived The crooks will always find an easy way. And now some wan##r has charged some old girl to be injected with a covid vaccine as a hoax What is up with this country Get fuc##ng tougher on the tos##rs
I don't know why people liked this post, I find this very disgusting, we should not stoop to these level. Why waste a ABBA stand? Has to be better ways. Maybe the post grinder fingers and toes be put to good use.
Glad this was useful, now have more CCTV and bigger locks than I hopefully need. The downside of this for someone else is that they'll move on to someone else instead of me.
