    14th February 2012.
    Are we missing something?
It's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year, and here we are thrashing about on a forum.
    Great ain't it :D

Just another cynical exploitation of less emotionally disposed men by Hallmark in my opinion.

I was getting emails from Ultimate Finish, EBuyer, and Screwfix today with Valentine Day specials.

Computer bits, car polish and DIY kit. WTF!

Jeanette's tried whinging a couple of times tonight that I'm not playing the game but sometimes you just got to say 'I'm not giving up on this one'.

A couple of years ago I invented 'Uncle Ken Day' cos I was sick of all these made up celebrations. Uncle Ken Day can be any day of the year, not even necessarily the same day each year but must be chosen by Uncle Ken. Nobody is allowed to question this choice. There can be no 'Why not have it at the weekend so Mum can come out to see you'. Oh no no no.....

On Uncle Ken Day, Uncle Ken gets to pick what he wants to do, where, for how long and in whoever's company he chooses with no querying or questioning of his judgement. This often means spending the day out on his own on his bike and has, coincidentally, fallen on his mother in law's birthday a couple of times.

It's a brilliant idea and do you know what? It pisses everyone off and they sulk about it, claiming that i'm being inconsiderate for others feelings and I should no longer follow the practice.

But suggest on February 14th that St Valentine didn't have a f*****g clue who Thorntons was and you get looked at like you're from another planet.

To be honest, I've blown Ultimate Finish out Matt. I had a flaw in a Snow Foam gun I bought from them, it was out of warranty so I phoned them to see if I could buy just the broken part, was told that the person I needed to speak to was out and would call me back. They didn't, I called again, same reply, I called again, same reply. I decided that there's loads of people willing to take my money and give me a bit of respect too. I tend not to get stroppy with questionable customer service, I just vote with my feet.
