We had a delivery this morning, guy had been driving a huge truck looking like death! Asked what was wrong he said hed had his vaccine yesterday and its knocked him for 6 My dad was feverish the night he had his too. Shows it's doing something I suppose!
What I am reading into this is that if you are going to get a covid jab make sure it is the Pfizer one rather than the Oxford AZ.
Depends on what you read. I had the Oxford AZ along with many others, no side affects, no issues. I also know some who have had nausea, tiredness, headaches (all of which have passed after a day or so) I know quite a few who have had the Pfizer who have also had issues as above and many who have had no issues. It is like the flu jab, some suffer a reaction, many have nothing. But you can read into things what you want can't you. Apparently the Oxford AZ is at around 96% protection, Pfizer around 85%. Does it matter? The point is we now have some protection. Interestingly, this story put things into perspective for me last week. My wife's cousin's husband has cancer. He is 70 something age wise but has been stable for a few years. He had his vaccination on the 12th of February, although his wife (who has already had Covid once) didn't. Anyway, a week to 10 days ago it transpired that his sister died in Liverpool as a result of complications caused by Covid to the point that she was so far gone, they could not even put her on a ventilator.. Anyway, on the same day, Phil was told that his cancer was showing signs of getting worse, so he had 2 smacks to the stomach. Being the only family, they had no option but travelled up to Liverpool (from Oxford) to arrange the funeral, clear the house and such like, all done in a day. By the time they got back, Phil is feeling quite poorly. They put it down to being tired after a long day. Anyway, long story short, both have now tested positive for Covid, (wife's cousin for the second time) and now they have to self isolate. What they have been told is that given Phil's medical history, without the vaccine he would have been hospitalised immediately. As it is, he can stay at home in isolation but he has to self inject anti coagulant (like warfarin) to reduce the possibility of blood clots forming (been there, done that, not nice) But the prognosis is that he will make a full recovery on the basis that the vaccine does not prevent you getting the virus, but it does seriously reduce the severity of the symptoms and reduce the need to be admitted into Hospital. In short it saves an NHS bed and saves lives. They are more concerned about her as this is her 2nd bout, but they are optimistic that she still has some anti bodies from the first bout. So fingers crossed, but the point of my waffle is that despite everything, nothing can be guaranteed, hence the reason we still need to take care.

I think your right there, it’s clear from the Huff link, all the researcher is showing is the trail data, what’s now needed is actual data from the mass immunisation programmes, involving millions of people over time and that’s going to take exactly that, time, to understand what’s effective, how long it protects, how it performs against mutations of the virus, and what if any are the side effects and how long they last. They first results from Scotland this week are encouraging, but again it’s over a short term, ie since the vaccination programme started, so again it has to be viewed with some degree of caution https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n523 I think it’s fair to say the scandalous comments bandied about by some EU government officials in countries such as France, Belgium, Germany have only caused public alarm and fear of certain vaccines which potentially will only cause needless illness and or death, all in the name of cheap politicking and arse covering over their own incompetence.
Had the Pfizer Jab yesterday morning, Then straight to DIY painting house on platforms. No side effects at all, Only ache I have is the is the injection landing zone. Just hope that the infection rate of this horded virus starts to decrease now, with the vaccination role out.
Jabbed up this morning, AZ brew. Can feel the man flu coming on already, nurse said if it does, best to put your feet up for 48 hours, put the footie on and get the wife to pour the beers.......now I’m not one to make a fuss, but at the end of the day who am I to argue with a medical professional ?
Saw a suggestion this morning that EU countries who don't like the flavour of the AZ vax should send them to 3rd world countries who can't get any. Not happened yet. Typical...
I had AZ yesterday around noon. I developed the punched in the arm feeling at 04:00 this morning. I had to get up and took 1000mg of paracetamol and 200mg of ibuprofen. Pain has gone now. Although I’ve just taken the tablets again to be on the safe side. When they did the vaccine I never felt a thing, not even the “slight scratch” they always warn you about.
I had my first jab today, also did not feel a thing, I was amazed at the number of volunteers at the BIC though.
Had the AZ vaccine yesterday at lunch. Felt like I've had a bit of a cold for the last 24 hours but rest of family have cold too so no idea on that. Felt really tired and slept all yesterday afternoon and for 10 hours last night. Tired today but feeling a lot better. Arm slightly sore but nothing bad. In short, nothing to worry about, probably best not to plan anything for the afternoon after you get it done.
Yep, Mrs KB had hers done on Friday with AZ, same type of reaction to yours Dern, looked like a female version of man flu too me, but maybe she wasn’t blagging it after all
You should tell her that you believe her now. What I find goes down particularly well is that after disbelieving something my wife has said, that you go back a bit later and say that you now believe that it might be true having had it confirmed by some random bloke on the internet. It'll be your lucky night
Had the AZ yesterday morning. All ok until about 9pm then head and throat started aching. Took paracetamol and went to bed but woke up at 5 this morning still feeling ropey. Guess a few days of Paracetamol are ahead, just wish I wasn't feeling like this over the weekend. On the upside there is no sigh of developing a taste for human flesh/brains yet
