So finally, on Sunday I got my first go of the bike after buying it back in December. It was cold, very very cold! But boy was it fun. For me it's the first time owning a modern day superbike. Coming from a 2004 Aprilia RSV, I couldn't get over how easy it was to ride. These things just point and go aye! I didn't realise how hard my Aprilia was to ride, and without blowing my own trumpet, I was quick on it. The blades gearbox combined with the Translogic QS is sublime! Finding neutral when you want it is a bonus to . For anyone on the edge of pulling the trigger on the QS, DO IT!!! You won't be disappointed. I didn't really get anywhere near full throttle, or experiencing the brute power due to the weather and it being my first ride for months. Pleasantly surprised by the torque available, even winding it on in 6th. I was surprised by the brakes, they didn't feel very sharp / powerful, granted I didn't go all gung ho on them. Any suggestions to improve them? It's got HEL braided lines already. Roll on the summer! No pictures sorry, my fingers were barely working ❄️
Quickshifter worked well then Sam? Did you use it all the time or just a bit for testing? As for the brakes, I've never been that impressed with them either. Although I find they do have fairly decent power but not very much initial bite if that makes sense. A common route to take starting with the cheapest option and increasing to the "got to hide the parcels from the wife" option are as follows..... New braided lines New alternative aftermarket pads Brembo 19RCS master cylinder New calipers.
Hiding stuff from the wife is an art. You can't just use the "It might be a surprise" too often when her birthday was a month ago. I have yet to perfect the art in any shape or form. The "but it was on offer" sometimes works, so does the "it's a safety addition, you want me safe don't you?" I have had the "you'd be safer walking" but I'm deaf to that one.
The master cylinder is pretty poor mate and you will notice a massive difference with any of the upgrade parts like acossato, brembo or hel. I can recommend the accossato with a great price and service from Mike at @BikersDiscountStore a sportier pad like sbs will also make a difference if still not happy with that lot then lastly the calipers,I use the hel calipers with an upgraded master, braided lines, and sbs pads, although not cheap, is night and day compared with what you have at the moment, the only problem is when you have to go back to standard for a while like I have it really shows up how crap the standard lot is
Brakes are shite on blades, my lever used to come back to bars. I got accosato adjustable ratio off Mike at bikerdiscountstore off here with a great deal. Hel braided hoses and some sbs race sintered pads and brakes are awesome now
Cheers for the input everyone. I've been in here for a while now @bradt I just haven't had chance to ride me bike ☹️. It's a 2015 SP and its AWESOME!!!!! CHEERS @CharlieR85 I'll have a look into the master cylinder I think. I had SBS pads in my Aprilia so I know they work well, they never failed me on track. The QS was amazing. I didn't use it at low speeds, but for overtaking and anytime I have it some beans I did. It was faultless and the sound is addictive. I couldn't remember at what the minimum RPM needed be. Any idea? You'll love it. Ha ha ha @bladey everything gets delivered to work and goes straight into the shed. Unless of course it adds safety . Excuse my ignorance @raphael what's the accossato mod?
Excuse my ignorance @raphael what's the accossato mod?[/QUOTE] It’s an upgraded master cylinder mate, cracking bit of kit and so much better than standard. also have a look at hel performance as they have started doing there own that are supposed to be very good
Ive had a few rcs19, night and day difference over the standard one and which ever brand you go for they are generally very good bang for your buck.
The Mille is definitely something different to the Blade, from the weight of the clutch to those full throttle starts to get it started! Could be worth a look at the brake fluid if it's not been changed??
Its not disabled at any RPM. Its always available to use. Not sure how low you can go before it stops being smooth though. What was it like when using the clutch? Does it make the gear lever feel mushy?
I'm after a recommendation for a reservoir to go with a Brembo RSC master cylinder. The standard one on my '13 blade fits to the original master cylinder so obviously won't fit the Brembo. BDS used to sell accossato reservoirs but they're out of stock and not getting anymore. Pictures would be great! Cheers
I'm using my standard one with a Brembo RCS master. I just modified the bracket and changed the mounting point the the upper bolt at the back of the top yoke. Been working perfectly for years now.
Can't wait for your fingers to get going and work their way to posting some snaps here mate, nothing quite like a picture to do a bike justice and to share the passion!!
Hopefully by the weekend. I haven't even looked at the bike, never mind ride it since the beginning of April. This week I was supposed to be in Scotland but we promptly knocked that on the head when the weather looked crap. At the minute I've been massively into British Mini Bike Racing. Absolutely brilliant fun. Cheap and I've met some great lads.
