hi i am just sat here bored today and was thinking of maybe looking at taking the headers off and try to drill the cat out and clean the headers at the same time , as i cant seem to get a solid answer if any other headers will fit an austin racing end can , so how hard are they to take off ? and what do you use to remove the cat , thanks for any advice .
Search for DOMINATOR.PL website. They sell a decat link pipe, albeit at approx 102 GBP (pre Brexit price) which involved cutting off cat and a small rework to existing manifold downpipes. Worth a look at least. I bought a similar link for my now sold 2013 cbr600f, involved cutting cat off etc. but with instructions and couple of emails just to confirm, that one worked a treat. I had thought to decat my 2017 F/blade but whereas the 600F really breathed and delivered well minus it's early grossly over engineered cat, I doubt the F/blade effect would be as striking. Has more hp than I'll ever utilise and I suspect it's more recent cat is much less strangling..... Mike
yes i decided to order one of the link pipes and will see what its like when it arrives before i try to fit ,lol , cheers
Let me know how you get on please. I’m also wanting to fit an AR can, I’ve been pointed in the direction of STG Performance in Wakefield, I’ve spoken to them and they want me to run the bike in so they can measure up and fabricate a link pipe.
still havent received it yet , but i havent got a clue when i will get chance to strip down and have a go at doing it as im back at work monday and next holiday wont be for a few month , but i was a bit pissed off that the austin says decat but the main cat is in the headers , and i did email them about it and got no where , but the can is spot on.
I saw that it says de-cat but when I read the installation guide it mentioned undoing the cables so kind of guessed it meant the butterfly valve.
well it turned up and it looks ok to be honest , but i need to get a spring as it didnt come with one , and i dont think i will be doing it for a while as i need to get out on it ,well when the weather gets better anyway , lol
Looks bang on that Keith where was it from and what was the cost? Si you just cut your exhaust and that slots over?
i bought it off ebay from poland and cost £113 inc delivery and it was quick delivery , yes you just chop the cat and put this on ,
well thats the cat chopped off and the new link pipe , so there is no going back now , fingers crossed its all good when back together but it wont be today as there didnt put a spring in and they have sent me one . and im just wondering when i fit the link pipe whether to use exhaust joint paste or try and get 2 jubilee clips in to hold them tight but there isnt much gap between the original pipes . so what do you think ?
Is there anywhere on the exhaust to attach a spring? Looks like there’s a hook for one on the new link pipe?
well shes back from the dyno as it was needed , and was happy with the results and the way it rides now ,
the standard run out the box was 165.28 bhp , 76.28 torque , then the standard headers , standard filter , austin end can was 172 bhp , 78.62 torque , then today was standard headers with the cat chopped and link pipe fitted , sprint filter , austin end can was 179.92 bhp , 81.55 torque , and it feels a lot different , well happy .
Wow that’s made my mind up, the cats getting drilled out of mine next few weeks before I get it put on the rollers!
