I'm toying with the idea of fitting a baffle to my racefit black. It will need sending off to have a cowl fitted to the end to provide something to screw the baffle to. Not too expensive but i prefer the look without it. The excessive noise is getting on my tits tbh and its spoiling my enjoyment of the bike. Plus it should make the bike more mot friendly as my local tester said it would be unlikely to pass. What i want to know is do they make much of a difference? Racefit are unable to provide an attenuation decibel figure.
You'll probably notice the difference but it'll still be pretty darn loud, you might want to wrap the baffle with accousta fil too, I'd guess baffle and wrap would maybe knock off 2-3 Db...?? Does it have any internal baffling you can remove and re-pack?
I have the baffle in mine. No idea of the db difference, but it is plenty enough to get it through the MOT.
Yes it still sounds great, just not so loud, there is no wadding on the baffle, not sure how you would even fit some..
I put mine in for the mot and to be honest, didn’t think it made a massive difference,the bike also felt better on the throttle with it in also but you may think differently
I’ve got a baffle for mine, it’s the non wadded version and imo it does nothing, noise wise. I’ve not ever ran with it it but have put it in at tick over and revving in the garage and I can’t hear any discernible difference - however after 100 miles on the road you may. Re MOT, find a more bike friendly tester, mine didn’t even sniff at mine, in fact fired his Harley up and said that’s a loud exhaust - twin 4” pipes on an Electra glide (I think, I just thought a heap of iron!)
I will give it a go. Turned out i was lucky and was miss quoted for the work. Only paid 100 sheets for the new end cap, baffle and postage. Should have been 100 for the endcap alone. Good of racefit to honour the quote though. Will post a review for others in due course.
You'll find that with Racefits, very well made, look the part but after the novelty wears off they can become annoying.....plus no MoT and no trackdsys? I had a growler 2 which does allow baffle fitment. In a bid to dampen the noise i wrapped it in exhaust wadding and secured it with stainless steel tie wraps/zip ties, what ever you want to call them. Still failed noise test at Oulton buy about 5db!
Got the exhaust back today. They do ooze quality, the workmanship and materials are something else. They have fitted a nice red rivet on top of the can, resleeved it as i wanted the branding to be redone and the end cap looks better on in the flesh. The baffle has padding so is meant to add to the noise supression. Now to fit it to see if its made any difference.
Fitted the new growler exhaust as opposed the my original black edition and looks good. The noise reduction is very noticable with the baffle in. You can hold a conversation next to the bike and hear the engine noise. Hearing the engine is new to me as my bike had the black edition racfit on when i brought it. The sound although quieter is more bassey. I need some advice though. The previous owner fitted the exhaust himself and i took a photo of the clamp and spring before taking it off. It looks lime the clamp is in the wrong position and should be on the recess of the cat. This way the spring holds the racefit onto the existing exhaust. He had the clamp around the end of the racefit, so essentially the spring was holding the exhaust to itself. What has made me question this, is the clamp is a little loose and is fully done up. Surely if it was meant to go in the recess it would do up tightly. First photo of how it was, second of how i did it and last one showing the looseness.
You won’t need a clamp would you? Mine doesn’t use one on a 2011 - wouldn’t imagine 13-16 would be any different? It’s just a slip on with paste to seal the joint? Original can uses a clamp.
Just seen the clamp, is it retaining the spring? If so would it be better on the mid box area? Picture isn’t so clear to me - a very amateur mechanic

Thanks Hitch, thats exactly how i have now fitted mine. It looks like your clamp is a little loose too but good to know i have the right idea.
The spring is to pull and hold the slip on so its a snug fit to the oem catalist. The paste is more to seal to stop gases escaping.
