Some better pics with the new bars and the little screen..... Plus I dropped the forks 8mm down the yokes to quicken up transitioning and make it feel more lively..... works a treat
Oh I see it now but that’s surely an issue come MOT time as its a long way off vertical. Have plod never said anything? I’m seriously considering changing the blade for the new black edition of this.
just stick the tail tidy back on for the MOT.... 4 bolts and a few wires and it’s all good to go. Never had any issues yet and I’ve had a couple directly behind me and not been stopped. From the rear it’s plane as day, it’s just from the side you think you won’t see it. Optical illusion sir.... Try one! Your hopefully be pleasantly surprised.
I completely agree with this; I thought the wheels let down what was otherwise a good looking bike in the CB1000R, but now they've fixed the wheel styling, they've gone and somehow forced some kind of retro styling upon the thing, and it feels very uncalled for on this bike. I really don't get why they would do that. The shape is right, but the quirkiness in the details just looks really off to me. Saying that though, and having ridden the supernakeds on offer about four years ago (CB1000R, Streetfighter, 1290 Super Duke, Tuono V4) I thought the Tuono stood head and shoulders above the rest, and I'd be very surprised if I felt any differently now. Admittedly I didn't try the Kwak Z1000, but the Honda felt decidedly 'flat' compared to the European offerings in that market - far moreso a noticeable tameness, I think - than the difference between a newer 'blade and the European competition.
I think that would be a bad idea man. I can see how it would compliment the 'blade on certain days of the week, but to lose it entirely in exchange for this will leave a gaping hole in your life IMO. Would it not be a better decision to pick up a first gen CB? You could probably pick one up for under four grand now these are out, which would be a steal, and it'd look so fucking awesome sitting side by side with your 'blade..
I appreciate what you are saying @jokeshopbeard, but regrettably space constraints mean there’s only room for one bike in my life. I’m going to book a test ride and see how I feel after that.
I very much encourage you to get some time in on a Tuono V4, that being your situation, before you commit to letting the 'blade go from your life. And anything else in the category you can get your hands on too of course. Springtime was a yearly ritual to get out and ride whatever I could lay my hands on from willing dealerships, time permitting, and it can sometimes lead to some very unexpected findings about ones preferences. I can't imagine how hard it would be to only have space for one bike. That's gotta make for so much a tougher decision. I had 5.5 bikes in my garage at one point and it was horribly painful just to be forced to get that number down to 2!!
I've heard people talk of those bikes with a lot of fondness before. I never had a chance to test a Triumph before they moved across to their three cylinder engine configuration. I wasn't much impressed by it though; the Speed Triple felt awfully bland to me, so I imagine the earlier bikes had a lot more character?
Hopefully get a chance to swing my leg over and do some miles on the all new Trumpet 1200R end of next week. Me mate Dave has deposit on one and think it lands early next week.... Quick PDI and some paperwork He’s super busy with work so I’ve nominated myself to get some running in smiles on it for him!..... Yeah I know what a good mate I am
You might be disappointed with that one @Dave dunlop. Quite a few guys on the Triumph forum saying their delivery estimates keep getting pushed back and some dealers saying they've got no idea when the demo's are going to land. I rode the CB1000R and the Street/Speed Triple and for me, the Triumphs had more character and better quality components out of the box. The Speed RS was a few quid more but worth the difference IMHO. If I was to look at a naked now, it'd definitely have to have a V4 in it.
Nooooo..... Don’t say that! Was getting all chimpy for next week I do wonder if they are multi dealer supply issues. apparently this is definitely on for next week. From a reliable source I’m told. Yeah the revised 765RS rocks and I would have definitely considered it if it hadn’t have been for Fonder Neo turning up as a PX for a very reasonable price. I’m considering all options so SF, RSV, RS12 Naked delights...... but will probably do another year and just do a little fishing.
The Triumph thing is a bit of an odd one. A couple of guys saying they've cancelled and are going to wait until next year, believing it's some sort of technical issue that needs sorting. I went looking for a Tuono when I ended up buying the RSV, but I would have considered the new RS a few months down the line when the discounts appear. I'd definitely consider one when the back and wrists need a rest from the Ape.
Still being promised by the end of the week But pretty sure he’s being crabbed! Might be proven wrong... will have to wait and see
Nada.... apparently now from 1st too the 16th of May .... I’ve also heard of a small potential issue that’s also causing some kind of hold up... with some machines having to be returned. Doesn’t sound like a big issue...but don’t really want to speculate at this stage. I’ve always been a firm believer in waiting a year if a model is almost totally new from the ground up!
I'd heard similar with a couple of the guys on the Triumph forum cancelling orders and saying they'll wait 12 months.
it’s apparently classed as a call back as opposed to a recall! So basically the bikes haven’t been officially handed over to customers. By all accounts they were delivered to dealers then taking back again!! I’m not buying it personally. How much truth is involved in this I don’t know. Throttle Cable related Apparently! Or just Bullshit Crabbing tactics.... absolutely Zero information on the Webb of doom.... personally I’m glad my names not down for one, but feel for the people that have fully committed Ps.... obviously the the new models have NO such things as throttle cables.... cables that carry a signal to the ECU/ Throttle bodies etc.... Potentiometers problems.... possibly? ..... Who knows.
