Interesting. I did hear that they'd been blowing quite a few of these engines on the testing bench trying to wring enough horsepower out to make it competitive. Sounds like it's mostly a revision of the 1050 in last year's RS. You'd have to assume they were comfortable with that before production.

I like Suzukis in general but to me that GSXS is neither here nor there in the looks department. It's not as radical looking as the Yamaha MT range and its not as classy/classic looking as the Honda CB range. Just seems to be a bit in no man's land. Definitely echo @dainesefreak regards the paint finish, all Suzuki engine cases look like they've been done at home with a spray can. No doubt a great bike though and good value.
I'm hoping Triumph realise they're missing a trick by not putting out an S or an R version. Something more road biased with cheaper suspenders to compete at the £12/13k mark, with 170 hp would sell like hot cakes surely?
Just had a quick look at the reviews for the Triumph Speedy - looks nice, plenty of power. Actually liking my Monster. Wouldn't trade it for the Suzuki.
Overall very good. My 821 is the cheaper end of the Ducati range and I noticed that the tank does not get a coat of lacquer like the 1200 does. I did write this as my only complaint about the bike in the survey. It now has lots of coats of wax on it - but would rather it had a lush coat of lacquer from the factory ! Everything seems nicely made. Quality dash, nice controls. Fitted the Ducati Performance parts aftermarket tail tidy - solid piece of work that is. No thin bits of bent metal and a few screws, but it was £270 or so. It takes a few minutes to warm up properly, not just water temp, but to warm up to its core - then it revs freely and bellows and rumbles on the overrun - sounds great
How many miles on it thus far Mattie? I tested the 821 Monster but ended up going with the Hypermotard; I adored the 821 engine even though I wanted to like the 1200 and the riding position on the Hyper was especially perfect for my intended use of the bike. I ask as I think mine now has about 18k on the clock; and bugger me if I haven't had some horrible gremlins on that bike. Basically all of the common faults as one would find reported on the Hyper forum, along with an issue now that won't allow the bike to start as the coils are getting inconsistent voltage as she turns over. I suspect I'll end up just having Ducati replace the loom, as I've taken it as far as my knowledge and skills will allow me to go, and after already repairing part of the loom which was causing the dash to flick off when I turned the bars I think I'll feel a lot better about it once that's done...
Only about 1,000 miles on it so far. Took delivery of it in November last year, so it is a late 2020 model. What year is you Motard ? Sounds like lots of grief ! One of the things that attracted me to the Fireblade was its proven reliability. In the 18,000 miles I did on it - not a single problem - not one. It was out in all weathers as well. I hope buying a current generation Ducati will not be grief - but if it is it is. Give it a go anyway
Well just had a shout from the local dealer to say they'd just taken delivery of the new Speed and to pop down, so I did. After a look around and a sit/bounce on the seat first impressions are . . . It's a Speed Triple. This might sound obvious, but it looks more like the Street than the out going model, slimmer, a bit less stocky feeling. Ergos felt much the same as the outgoing model from the seat. Seat's a bit weird, probably because I'm a short arse, but where it's stitched it sort of digs in and pushes the legs out. Not overly comfortable holding it upright on the showroom floor. Build quality looked the usual decent Triumph of late. The suspension hardly compressed with me bouncing up and down. Sat on the Street and did the same and got some decent movement by comparison. Didn't get a chance to fire it up as it was still covered in stickers. I may take it for a spin if they stick it on as a demo. Going to ride the newish Street when the weather picks up.
Not now.... after weeks of being completely pissed about with dates etc.... and if I’m honest total bullshit stories about it turning up on two occasions but had to be returned, one for a call back and the other was for administrative issues! He’s got his deposit back and is off to buy the new Ape Tuono......
I popped down to the dealer the other day and they'd just got the silver RS in. I don't doubt it will be a great bike and well bolted together, but it really just didn't do it for me, it's too bland looking. Triumph really need to do something different with the colour schemes and decals. Being a 10 stoner the reviews of the suspension put me off too, as I had to spend some cash getting the last RS sorted. Now on the other hand (and I'll wait to see what issues come up), the Superduke in the Orange/Blue really had some pop to it. Really surprised me how nice it looked in the metal.
