Hi folks, new here and thought I would post about my blade, a few will remember it as it belonged to crm and I bought it from him last year. https://i.imgur.com/Zi5dMmk.jpg I’ve been adding some more lightness over winter but I’m still waiting for a few bits to turn up.
I’ve fitted the later sp titanium tank and sicom discs with nissin wsb calipers, waiting for the pads for the calipers though and frank wratthal’s gone through the engine and fitted pistal high comp pistons, super finished the gearbox and fitted ceramic bearings, it’s now at 183bhp and 88lb/ft of torque.
Welcome along mate!! That's an absolutely stonking machine you've got yourself there, and the new brake and engine upgrades are absolutely sexual in desirability. What are you intending to use the bike for? Track day toy or are you going to take it into competition? How much did the discs set you back? I've seen the damage those calipers'll do on the TenKate website.. wowch. Has she dropped a few BHP since the rebuild, or is it just different dyno? I thought she was pushing more than that in days gone by. Got any plans to give her some nicer colours/livery? Always thought she looked not quite half finished in that regard. Apologies for all the questions; you've got a legendary bike there so I guess you're gonna get them a lot!! You're a lucky man, getting your hands on her!
Hi , the bike was putting out 172bhp when pb built it and on wratthal’s dyno it showed 171 so to 183 is a good jump, I’m going to be using this mainly for the road with maybe the odd track day thrown in, the wrap is staying as is as this was the last real pb project bike so is a piece of history really. If you look on the hps site they have the discs listed, I got the calipers second hand from Jackson racing with an mc to match and I’ve got a remote span adjuster on the way and hps are getting some pads to match the sicom’s.
I never thought it would be something I’d be able to buy, paul (crm) put it up for sale on the pb forum and their was no takers for a while and luckily I got the money together, there’s some really nice bits on it and it’s dripping in ti fasteners, it weighed 173 kg full fuelled so with the discs and tank it should be around the 170kg Mark, I’ve got some ceracarbon forks being made for it at the moment so they should take it into the 160’s.
You've certainly spent a fair bit of money on that, should be nice on the track with the right rider pushing it to the limits.
The mag wants to use the bike again for another test when I’ve finished working on it, might be rutter again.
Appreciate the lowdown Warren! I'd do the same thing as you; weekend toys deserve to be a thrilling as possible!! Had to look up Ceracarbon Forks. Holy shit they're beautiful. Can you put Ohlins or K-Tek internals in them or they come as is?
They’re building them with Ktech rds cartridges and they’re weaving gold dynema into the carbon for me as well.
Prices vary depending on what spec you’re having but they’re comparable to Ohlins but weigh about half as much, the uppers are carbon outers with ceramic inners and the bottom are ceramic outer with carbon inner.
Hi and welcome Glad you're keeping the original colours...it wouldn't be the pb bike without them. It'll certainly get some attention this summer....enjoy Whereabouts in the country are you?
I’m in Staffordshire, it probably won’t get seen that much as I’m an early rider, when weather allows I’m out for 4,30, best time of the day.
Good memory, yes I’ve still got it, wratthal’s just went through the engine on that as well and super finished the gearbox with ceramic bearings.
