Completely gutted... my beautiful SP is a write off

    20210521_131835.jpg

Had a head on with a car. Tried to get over but hit the side. Bikes completely wrecked....I had a flying lesson. Lady Luck was with me and all I've got is severe bruising and cuts. Probably because I was catapulted up and landed splat rather than skidding down the road.

First time this year I'd put my Kevlars on too and initially popped my shortie boots on as I was only going for a short gentle local coffee ride. But my mate had a bad accident a few years ago and the surgeon said if he'd have had shorties on he'd have lost his leg. So since then I've hardly wore mine. Had that niggly feeling so took them off and put my full boots on.
Paramedic said the full boots saved my right leg as I impacted the car panel. So the shorties are finally going in the bin.
Brilliant response by NHS and police and members of the public who stopped.
I loved that blade so much :( I really am devastated.

Doubt another non abs tt edition exists but if anyone sees one for sale or knows a collector who has one can you let me know.

At least you’ve come away in one piece even if the bike hasn’t. Gutted for you and hope the cuts and bruises mend sooner rather than later.

Stuff the bike it's just metal and plastic that can be replaced but you can't so the fact you are in one piece is all that matters. I'm sure your loved ones aren't worried about the bike and are just hugely relieved you have walked away from this. 2 bikers were killed local to me over the weekend in separate incidents as it was reported on the local radio and so it puts it into perspective really - how the bike ends up really isn't important.

Welcome to the "how the fuck did I walk away from that" club. Did similar 12 years ago when I got an overtake wrong, you do the same?

Had to do the really bad boy police course, 1 ½ days and several hundred quid.

Heal quick and get down the dealers to get yourself a bike sorted.

Sorry to hear/see. Most important thing is you walked away. Speedy recovery and hope you eventually find a replacement bike that ticks the boxes.

Got me rethinking the short boots now. I too have a pair which I use with the jeans and leathers....

Sorry to hear Lozzy, hope you have a speedy recovery from the cuts and bruises. Real shame about the bike, but glad you’re in one piece.

Crap news but as long as you walk away you get to play another day, take time to heal and get yourself checked out properly, I came off a couple of years ago and just thought everything would be ok and I’m still getting issues from it now.

Was wondering when you were going to put it on here, been thinking about you since you told me the other day! :( As I said at the time, main thing is you came out of it relatively unscathed but clearly shaken up a bit!

Genuinely gutted for you re the bike but it can very easily be replaced and you are here to tell the tale. Looking forward to seeing you back in the saddle once you get your new ride sorted.:)

Until then......put your feet up, chill and get searching Lozzy x

Fuck.....Lozzy so sorry to hear about the accident everyone on here knows how much you loved the S P and everyone will be gutted for you, but THE most important thing is that you are ok albeit shaken up and no doubt bruised, it could of been a whole lot worse if you hadn't had the proper gear on.

Lozzy just glad you are ok. As a Waitrose delivery driver I am on the roads all year. I have noticed a lot of two seater four wheeled toys out the last few days (Normally these bell ends are abroad this time of year). If it isn’t these lot it is foreign lorry drivers trying to take me out.

Serious carnage that bike, gutted for you. I know how attached we get to these bikes, it’s such a shame that a lovely bike like that is now gone.
    So glad your OK.

Well, now it’s time to start looking at what your insurance payout will buy you, take it easy start browsing the ads and get well soon.
