Not been happy with stock callipers on my RR7. Decided to invest in some Brembo M4's (220A39710). Gone to fit them today asI thought they were a direct bolt on but having issues on the left hand side caliper. Right caliper fits fine. Caliper body touching disc (photo from underneath caliper) You can see disc is really tight to one side and touching the caliper body to the point the wheel won't move freely. Pad rub on the old caliper was also a problem and I had loads of drag. Am I missing something?
Very odd, have you fitted the wheel axle spacers correctly. If the wheel axle is loosened does the Caliper line up. I have these Calipers on my 06 Blade. But I have different forks an wheels.
Its really strange. Spacers are on the correct side as per Honda diagram, switched them round out of curiosity and the problem is the same. With a loose axel the disc still isn't in the center. Front brake drag on my stock callipers was horrific so its not an issue introduced by Brembo's but still doesn't explain why the alignment is so off
Check the offset on both discs is the same, the left disc might have more offset. Lay the discs on a flat surface and put a straight edge across them and measure down through the centre of them.
Just another thing to check, I’m running M4’s on mine and to get the pads to fully sit on the discs I had to take the silver caliper spacers off.
If I'm reading what you posted right you had issues with the standard calipers and pad rubbing on the same side... is that right? The problem probably isn't with the calipers then as the problem exists with both new and old, but that they aren't centered on the disc. So your problem should be one of wheel spacers fitted incorrectly, disc fitted incorrectly (check the mounting faces and the direction arrows) or the wrong disc (are they both the same distance from the wheel?).
Solved! So after much head scratching it seemed the only thing that could be wrong is the discs. I ordered some new discs which arrived today, when I compared the new discs to the ones on the bike it was immediately obvious the offsets were different. Fitted the new discs and everything lines up as it should and little to no pad drag with the Brembos. Very happy! New setup
