It looks like I may have solved my gear selection problems on my 2021 SP blade. TBH i haven't really had a problem but just occasionally i would get -- shown on the digital gear indicator. The correct gear would display if you released the throttle momentarily.

I did have a problem on my 2017 SP1, with several "missed" gears per ride.

The other day I took a mates CBX550 for an MOT. I noticed I had to moved my foot off the foot peg to change gear. This got me thinking.

    So long story short.

I have adjusted my gear lever down so it is much nearer my foot and I can now lift the gear lever to its stop with very little movement from my foot. Result. 1cm adjustment was all it needed.

    Problem solved.

Loved my CBX 550 back in the day, apart from the inboard ventilated discs - they were a pain in the arse

The brakes on it were terrible when i took it for the MOT. I was amazed it passed.

Or was it you were comparing 1984 brakes to your 2021’s :D:D

I wondered that but I don't think so. I couldn't pull on the lever hard enough to get a decent rate of deceleration, just pulling up at a T junction.

I think a lot of the complaints about the 2017 were down to similar rider/owner/dealer setup errors.

I wonder if this was Guy Martin’s problem. I doubt it.

Unlikely as he was using a totally different system.

As far as I know he was on the 2017 SP2. I’m not sure it was a totally different system.

Yes mate. Different rearsets, strain gauge quickshifter, HRC cassette gearbox, and Motec ECU.

I had this issue a couple of odd times.
Mine was resolved as soon as I adjusted the chain.
Initially had a slack of about 35-37mm instead of the recommended 25-35mm range listed in the manual.
After adjusting to probably about 30mm, all was good
