Evening all..been riding for only 4 years on my superb 2013 gsxr600..been a great bike with very few real problems. I've been so close to buying a new bike for 6 months,then my car became priority so the ducati v4 was cancelled for the foreseeable future but the want for bigger and better doesn't or hasn't gone away..so thr budget has changed slightly and my little.shortlist was the r1 big bang version,looks nice and sounds nice but damn uncomfortable,the s1000 is silly money,especially when compared to the honda...after seeing a cbr1000rr repsol version,roughly 2011-12 the owl face shape,I loved it,or the look atleast..went to look and sit on a 2011 and a 2016 on Saturday,I honestly loved the 2011,super.comfy although both were similar,I just prefer the one I said....what are peoples opinions on both,experiences maybe of general ownership,and even comparisons to other bikes owned..I've small ish legs at 5'9with little.30" legs so the 2011 felt about perfect where as the newer was quite tall
Hi and welcome to the forum. I’ve got a 2016 (last of the analogue) Black Edition and love it. I’m 6’3 tall so can’t comment for issues with seat height, but can say the bike is very comfortable and doesn’t feel cramped. My main suggestion is read up on here under ‘General 1000RR Discussion’ section top posting about ABS for the 08-16 bikes and make your own decision.
The CBR1000RR 2012 - 2016 model is normally cheaper than other manufacturers of the same year as it has no electronic aids and is generally lower in power compared to them. The Honda is smooth and reliable.
I’ve owned the 2012 model covering 50k miles with no major issues at all to be honest, I’m a similar height to yourself and find the 2012 and now 2015 models made for me. As said above, look into the abs issues and make your own conclusions. I think they changed the service intervals from 4K to 8 on the newer bike but maybe wrong?
I'm 5'8" with a 29" inside leg and whilst many bikes are are bit on the tall side, I feel that my '14 Blade is a good fit. I was also looking at a big bang R1, and a GSXR750, but decided on the 'Blade mostly because I found a low mileage one at a very good price, but also because the blade is known to be one of the more rideable and comfortable (from an ergo's point of view, the seat is a bit hard though) litre bikes and my advancing years plus I'd been away from biking for about 15 years. I'm very happy with it so far, but bear in mind I've only had it just over a week and put about 150 miles on it so cannot give a proper opinion.
Thanks for the comments so far,I'm looking at a local franchise approved 2011,they've offered me a decent px price (4700) I should.pull 5500 give or take a few pounds selling private..I'm in no great rush so can afford.to find the right bike/deal.i found the 2011 was a really good fit,especially being a 1000 bike,I was expecting them.all.to be huge
Welcome to the forum. The 2008 to 2013 models have the same ride position, on 2014 to 2016 “the footpegs are set 10mm further back, and the handlebars made wider, and brought 1° lower and 5° forward” which gives it a slightly more aggressive ride position.
I sat on a lovely 2016 on Saturday morning,and yes it felt big and more aggressive..it was a lovely bike don't get me wrong,its just the 2011 I loved,which is very unlike me...I'm one of those who.wants new all the time...
Go with what you feel comfortable with I'm shorter than you and comfort has never been an issue on my 09, from memory most miles in a day about 400/425 Welcome to the forum.
I would avoid it if I were looking at buying a blade up to and including the 2016 model. A guy I know has the 2013 abs and intermittently the brake lever comes right back to the handlebars with no warning. If he releases the lever and pulls it in again the brakes work. I couldn’t live with that scenario, by the time you pull the brake lever for the second time it could be all over.
I've got the ABS model, and although I've only done a couple hundred miles on it, it hasn't once given me a problem. Yet... You can be assured though, the first time it happens, it's all coming out, assuming I survive the experience.
I've seen lots of these bikes over the years, Fingers crossed,and I must admit this hasn't put .e off completely
Just saw your post and I've moved onto a fireblade from a cbr600rr which I owned for 4 1/2 years and I must admit that aside from the extra grunt it feels just as light and nimble. I tried various bikes such as a gsxr1000 and R1 but the blade just felt so right. I'm 5'7" and I can near enough flat foot when stopped. I've had a 2009 and now a 2011 which I love
Yep,I've made offers to honda and they said they'd meet me half way,money wise..I'm away working for a few weeks and they seem to want to rush things which I'm not keen on..Mrs is home but my cars infront of garage plus I'll need to get all.my paperwork together then take off the locks and grab original exhaust and seat.. Too much to deals with whilst I'm away..so I'll see when I'm back
Did it re-pressurize on another squeeze? Also, just for my curiosity, are you running standard tyre sizes and pressures?
