Anyone tried removing their Yoshi on here, I dropped that bloody screw when trying out the db killer, the screw went inbetween the can and the carbon outer shell. Anyway have to remove it. I removed the plate, bolts and springs (all 4) but am uncertain if the can comes off at its base or does the u bend pipe come off with it. I couldn't get the u bend pipe off enough to get the can off. Could not find a guide online unless anyone has one here or some advice. Thanks in advance.
Well I pulled that Yoshi exhaust for an hour and tried twisting if to losen it but nothing, both springs were taken off and I even tried banging it out. Anyone have any ideas how to losen it up.
Try spraying some WD40 at the joint and then starting the bike to get it warm and let the oil seap into the join. Make sure you put on some gloves so you don't get burnt then try again 'tapping' with a soft mallet and twistng. There's 2 joins. 1 near the muffler and another at the opposite end of the S bend pipe. If you can't get it off from 1 end try the other.
I tried the second joint at the end of the S bend but it would pull all the way out as it was hitting some part, will try the wd40 and turn it on. Cheers

Dans right I have had two now that have been near impossible to remove, zee's I had to give up on! That or drastic measures were going to be used but in the end I worked round it.. If I remember I wanted to remove it to gain more access to fit his ttx shock... I think they have some issues with swelling when exposed to heat once the cool it seems the form a sweat fit and become tight when cold, you could run the bike for a while use some heat proof gloves and the lube and try to remove it when warm.
Top tip for the next time mate. If you have a magnet, rub it on the front of the socket or screwdriver so that when the bolt/screw comes loose it sticks to the tool and doesn't fall inside again. Works a treat
I bought a big magnet cos I thought it would be able to fish the bolt out but didn't pick it up, will try that in future though cheers. Cheers to all for advice... I am determined to not be beaten (for now at least)
Think the screw is stainless mate! So NOT magnetic, I also tested the yosh headers with a magnet once and they are slightly magnetic, now that's propper odd as they should be good grade stainless!
Your right Arthur but believe it or not, some stainless is slightly magnetic, that's why you get a slight pull with the magnet. We use the stainless at work. I'll try and find some info for you if needed. I think it's stainless 403. I'll find out when at work on Monday.
Be interesting mate, I've only really had hands on the likes of 316 etc and inox stainless etc.. I always assumed that good grade ss was not magnetic at all I did a Chinese system a while back and it was very mixed when polished some shiny some rusty much like poorly mixed putty, I guess when the smelt the steel the grades of recycled materials is all sorts and the final results very poor.. not saying the yosh is like that but what was very odd is some sections were less magnetic than others!?
That is odd. You would think it would atleast be the same all through the system. We tend to use the stainless on parts that are of a critical nature. Its defo not of a lower standard
When I see more r77's I will test them just out of interest.. It's not what you would expect though hey... I'm and Akra fan me.....LOL

Lol I doubt that very much mate. I can only pretend to know what I'm talking about when it comes to being a bike mechanic. I just enjoy tinkering, and pick up tips from the helpful, like youself.
Well damn me I did it I tried the advice I got from you all and basicly wd40'd it like mad and turned it on and slipped off, blimey it was tough though. Anyway got that bleeding bolt out, I dont think I will be using the baffler ever again and if I need it for MOT etc I will just slide it in without the bolt to hold it in. Thanks for the advice again
