Anyone got any decent sources for Brembo M4 seals and pistons? The brakes on my ‘17 have started sticking. Seals from Honda are £35 x 8 (£280!!!!!). Pistons are £140 ea…….

Bikehps seem to do genuine seal kits but is there a source of Brembo pistons? At this rate it would be cheaper to replace the callipers

I’m disappointed with the Brembo kit. I’ve never had this sort of issue with Nissin or Tokicko callipers before at this sort of age or mileage.

    That is disappointing for Brembo!
I have the OEM tokicos but with stainless steel pistons an they are much better though I did need to polish them to mirror finish.

Have you opened them up and given them a good service, unless the seals have been contaminated with over use of brake cleaner they should just clean up with nicely with soap and water.

From my experience a lot of the sticking is salt buildup behind the seals, just needs careful scraping with a pick

everything was squeaky clean. Put new pads in over winter and used brake cleaner for the first time. I think it has goosed the dust seals. Parts, other than outrageously priced from Honda, are proving a mare to find

shame, learnt the hard way too that brake cleaner and seals don't mix though Tokico seals are much cheaper!

It is. Makes you wonder why they call it brake cleaner!

What I’ve also learnt is that Brembos parts availability is just shite. As for cost…. If I had to replace seals and pistons, it would be far cheaper the just buy new callipers…. I’ve long held an aversion to European crap. This episode had just reinforced that view. For now I’ve ordered seals from Bikehps. They hope they’re the right ones. If not it is Honda prices…..

Seals will expand to nearly 1.5 times their size when over exposed to brake cleaner! they will be completely ruined and a nightmare to extract the pistons. Just soap and water for me too, I just use cleaner on bobbin maintenance

Take them out one at a time and clean in brake fluid. If you're reasonably quick, you'll get them back in before they swell.
Red grease on the pistons. Normal grease will dissolve the seals. The red stuff is getting harder to find as there is little call for it since most car manufacturers now won't supply seals. They don't trust their dealer mechanics to fit them and so only supply ready built calipers.
Brembo is just a fashion label.

I’ve got a big tub of red grease. New seals on the way I hope. I’ll update how I get on.

I agree on the label bit
