Last year my daughter who has a part time job in Tesco picked me up 12 of these Castrol Power 1 racing PXL_20220314_160915301.MP.jpg PXL_20220314_160901522.MP.jpg for around about £2.50 each!!!! I'm going to give the bike a wee service and just wanted to check with you guys and see if they are suitable and also what oil and filter do you use? I usually buy a k&n or hi Flo filter.

I've been using power 1 (not racing) for a while which I think is the semi synth version for about 50k miles. Though it's 10W30, I do occasionally use 10w40 during the summer months. I generally change oil between 6-8k intervals.

After using the really fancy oils such as Motul 300V I feel the blade engine runs smoother with semi. Gets a bit pricy too if you're changing oil up to 3 times a year!.

Filter wise, I generally stick with OEM and that goes for the air filter too

That's the oil I use for my bike on track and used to use it on the road too.

I've used that for every oil change since buying the blade many years ago and I always use genuine Honda oil fil results
Good result getting oil for £2.50 per litre and plus club card points

I used to use that in my firestorm for 10 years until I sold it three years ago and the old girl is for sale again so still going strong

So you use 10/40? Does Honda not recommend 10/30?

You can use any of the grades below, this shows the ambient temperature they can cope with. This is from the 2004 service manual by the way.

Yeah tell me about it, when she phoned me and said there's some motorbike oil reduced in the sale section do you want it? I said send me a photo of it and when I saw it I said buy every one of them for me they were £2.89 each and she got her 10% staff discount. There was only 12 of them and her supervisor said she couldn't buy them all and had to put 6 back but she got her pal to buy the other 6......why are some people such aholes!!!! So I got them in the end ;)
