Good work bonjo. Still swear by Esso Super Supreme 99, in most of mainland England where most people live it’s still the only one ethanol free and very helpful if you still have carbs.
At nearly £1.80 a litre, I am sticking with V Power even for the lawnmower. Luckily I cycle to work (9 mile round trip) and the Mrs walks less than a mile to her work. I can’t imagine how expensive it must be for people who have to fill up 2-3 times a week at the moment.
This was in MCN a few weeks ago. You're reliant on super being quite close in price to E10 though. Most of the time it's a lot more than 8p a litre more.
I paid £1.77 for Esso Super yesterday 14p a litre dearer than regular unleaded, but in reality the amount a bike drinks unless you are doing serious mileage it’s not really a factor.
Put 15.25 litres of BP Ultra in today , cost £27.43 that was about 145 miles of use .£1.799 per litre It's getting to be experience fun
Look on the bright side Mark my mate pays £1300 for his season ticket at the Sittenham Hotspuds for 19 games, that’s £68 a game, that’s a serious waste of money for watching that dross, so £27 for actually enjoying yourself is quite a bargain in my eyes
On a separate note, the claimed financial benefits exclude the impact of alcohol on your rubber parts. I make inlet manifolds for NS400 bikes. I have to advise all users not to run alcohol fuels as the stuff just destroys the rubber the manifolds are made from. The rubber swells and then tears
Just a thought, they recommend that you brim your fuel tank before laying your bike up for the winter (or drain the whole system). As average tank size is 18 litres that means for E10 1.8 litres of water will settle at the bottom of your tank for the first start of the year.
filling up with water at least it is cheaper than petrol, You will get 1.8lts of ethanol but I do not know where the water comes from
Alcohol absorbs water. So as it stands it absorbs more and more which drops to the bottom of the tank.
Thanks @NS400R that was the point I was trying to make Ethanol is hygroscopic and absorbs water, so more ethanol means more water. Best give your bike a good shake before its first start?
That's the theory behind brimming it, no space for water to get in (condensation). Yea I give my bike a good shake before first start after winter.
I filled my zx6r f2 ( years ago) with super unleaded at Tesco every tank, around 2 a week and noticed no difference until we looked at the carbs. They were almost pristine in comparison to how they would normally look lol
U.S.A. now doing e15 and Ford America now flagging e15 as a possible cause of problems with pre 2018 vehicles.
