Getting back in to bikes again after a long break, looking at a 2015 in Repsol colours :)

Hi and welcome to the forum - read on here about the ABS and form your own opinion before putting a deposit down. However, if the reg is PF15 UON walk away unless you buy it with your first intention to be removing the ABS, or someone has already removed it.

Don't waste your time reading up....unless you're prepared to rip it out. The system isnt fit for purpose. Find a non abs, they are some out there :)

So does this effect all years including the 2015 Repsol, is there a fuse that can be pulled to turn the ABS off, was very close to buying a 2015 yesterday

2008-2016 I know some have pulled the fuse rather than remove the system but then your dragging 10 or more kg round as ballast. Honda scrapped their own ABS for the 2017 model and went with a Bosch system (speaks volumes that they’d spend money buying it in if there was no issue with their in-house kit)

I guess pulling the fuse makes it safe, but as you say 10kg is a big bit of useless weight to carry around

You could always go on a diet to offset the 10kg lol.......or work on your biceps to be able to push it around if you don't fancy lettuce buttys

Or avoid the hassle and get a none abs - you’ll also avoid hugger issues that way (the ABS bikes seat under-tray sits a lot lower)

Yes pulling the fuse disables the ABS then it behaves just like normal brakes. I haven't had an issue with my ABS yet but I am prepared to rip it out the day it gives me even a hint of gip.
