Here’s an anomaly that has engaged my curiosity for years? When you come across another biker on the road he will nod his head and I myself have had a biker stop at a lay-by with the offer help thinking I had broken down and yet at a bike meeting place, road side café or even charity ride outs we all revert back to type and ignore those we don’t know. Last night my friend and I stopped at Willingham Woods, a Wednesday night meeting place, we politely ask is we could share a bench to enjoy a well earned cup of tea and a polite yes mate was followed by silence. Come on lads lets start a revolution, the next time and every time your out make a point of speaking to at least one biker you don’t know and if you see some one riding alone speak to him and lets start to make the biking community just that, a community. PS I have got my own friends, HONEST
Yea i kind of get what you mean on that front....I thought it was the new 'cool' to NOT Nod at the bike thats just nodded at you lol I myself will Nod at anyone and i dont mind admitting im not the most talkative person to those i dont know but i always make an effort, i certainly would if i was sat on the same table :|
You get bikers that don't nod and other's including myself that do. I always chat to people when at local meeting areas. When on my own or with good mates. I found the biking community to be very nice, be it big hairy harely types or sports biker's. Compared the the kit car scene I also know well, that are often very clicky and snobby. But nto all of them. but you'll always get the one or two who are not so nice. Ride enjoy and keep safe I say. And be nice too
Even scooter riders? I don't mainly as most are snotty 16yr olds or commuters who don't give a toss around my area
I try to nod at everyone. Its funny when a line of 6 or so bikers come past and i look like im listening to heavy metal ...lol... Nodding dog ha ha Seriously thou i have met some good riding buddies from chatting at meeting spots. I love all bikes and ask about mods on everybodys to get ideas for some of my own
No not scooter riders unless they decide to say hello to me...im no snob but yea tbh i hate those sports cans they all seem to have, what a racket
It depends on the scooter. I'll nod at people on old style lambrettas and the like as they are genuine two wheeled enthusiasts. Commuters and chavs in trackies and trainers chavs no, they just wouldn't understand.
My Mrs will tell you i talk to everyone doesnt matter if they have a bike or not ....give me a wave when there driving a car i will give them a wave back, give all scooter riders a wave or a nod too as i remember what it was like when i was young and some bikers laughed at me because i had a Honda C90 but a bike was a bike then and it was my first on the road bike, i think when car drivers or others get to know us bikers a bit better the thoughts on us change and hopefully there mentality as well ..... how many times have you seen someone you did not know had a look at them and thought he looks a bit of tosser 10 minutes later he walks away and you say to yourself he was a really nice guy
