Well thank you all for a warm welcome Good to see all the usual suspects are alive and kicking and still devoted to the brand. Midlife crisis is well and truly in full swing this year! Seems like I’ve had more bikes in the last 3 years than I care to think about. But they have all been epic in one way or another. Character full and some totally bonkers. So after ditching the whole sports bike thing just over a year ago I’ve made the decision that life’s not quite the same without a adrenaline fuelled full on sports bike, Even if it doesn’t make sense I’ve scratched all the itches and then some. So it made perfect sense to start again with the RR-R SP as a great platform for some much needed improvements. Certainly addressing some typical Honda traits, Top of the list priorities will be weight loss and ergonomics. So i literally only picked her up last week and have only been out twice before being doomed with man flue…. So those who remember the old project I will include some photos, And of course a few of the new one ☝️
That looks sweet with blue dymags. Also I notice you de-ABS’d it. Did you have issues with it or was it a weight saving measure (or both?)
Cheers fella, I removed the complete ABS purely as a weight saving exercise, plus a far better feel at the lever with way more power and modulation. Sure it ended up being 12Kgs all told. I literally removed everything including wiring, all hard pipes and brackets. The bike completed with a splash of fuel was around 174kgs…- Lots planned once I get stuck in. The gearing is far more suited on the later bike. But it still needs help so will end up dropping 1 more off the final, but stick with the 43 rear, 520 Renthal lightweight sprockets using a 520 setup. All the over engineered brackets made of pig iron will be removed and replaced by suitable homemade items, All major hardware swapped out for TI, Full system and wheels further down the line…. Sure the list will grow once I get going!
collecting cars have one at auction, currently at 177K with 60 odd bids! Another up for a grand short of 200K! So to answer your question…. Definitely not Makes the new Blade sound like a bargain! Even with some tasteful modifications….
Not as bad as I thought, a little fluffy just off tick over. AFR is probably all over the place as per normal. New bikes are so lean now off the bottom, cats, valves and euro trash…. Evap canisters to save some polar bears! Will all be deposed of and then mapped accordingly. But as of right now it sounds very angry
