Hi, first outright sports bike, had a zzr1100 for 10 years, loved it but always lusted after a Fireblade. And then an R1100RT for the last 4, but didn’t love it. just waiting for delivery of a 2004 cbr100rr and reading up manuals and info. Live in Leicestershire. just wondering if there is a link to starting point suspension setups for road use anywhere? or some pointers for a 16 stone rider. From what I can see the standard setup is for 12stone, but that was sim and distant school days for me Any pointers or help appreciated. thanks.
Hi and welcome to the forum - can’t help as never had a 2004, but plenty of others have, so no doubt you’ll get a response.
Hi Trevor, I am also collecting a rr6 fireblade next week and to solve my problem before it starts im sending my rear shock and forks to ktec suspension. This way they can service the shock and fit a spring for my weight (15,8) . Then service my forks and revalve them for fast road use and fit appropriate springs. Its ok to take advice from people but if the suspension is tired before you start it makes things hard . Also if the spring doesn't suit your weight and you can't set the "sag" and becomes coilbound it won't work either. I raced bikes for 10 years when I was younger so I would like to think this is sound advice. If your spending good money on a bike , spend a bit more to make it handle right . You will be amazed at the difference. Good luck and enjoy mate
Thank you, I doubt I’ll ever race or even track mine. just looking for a good starting point even for the ride home but yes even though low miles I expect Il lane replacing some suspension components due to age/wear.
