Got a fews days off so went out for a ride today. Left it later than usual but was on the road for about 08:30. More traffic that usual, mostly cars with the rear windows jammed with bags etc so had to be extra careful. Went past Cadwell and they already had speed limits from Scamblesby, and people parked up queuing at the cross roads. The roads are meant to be even busier tomorrow, and the local plod will be out and about in force on some of my favourite roads due to BSB so we're off to the outlaws at sparrows fart. Got next week off as well and the weather is looking good so hopefully plenty of miles will be done then.
Guy in a Honda Accord pulls up on my left at a road junction. Baseball cap on backwards and some sort of noise he thought was music. No frigging signal, starts to turn right until my boot contacts his drivers door, like I’m invisible in my Repsol leathers. Puts his phone down, straightens up and pulls away. I’m only hoping that the mark l left on his door is through the paint and not superficial. I didn’t kick it as hard as I should have done. Tosser.
Out for an early solo one this morning (my pillion was out on the sauce last night). Perfect conditions and little traffic.
Nice one Ron, can you take some pics of the bike from the other side please, don't think we've quite got enough if it from different angles!!
Took the IAM Advanced Rider test and passed with “FIRST” result (highest score). Really enjoyed it and got lots of valuable feedback about how to ride better. Definitely recommend it to everyone
Further than me went to roll it out and found the rear punctured. Only saving grace was it was going down v quick so must have happened virtually as I arrived home from a longish ride yesterday, so at least I wasn't stuck waiting for recovery on a bh
Went to a local bike stop, chips and a cornish pasty with the sun out before the clouds came and it started to rain. Got home, chained up the bike and the bloody sun came out again
Did about 200 miles going nowhere and getting there as fast as I could. Filled up at the Shell Station in Louth and think I saw the Ryo from the HRC BSB team filling up his Civic, looked similar to what I recall and the private plate definitely seemed to support the idea. Not surprising really as the HRC site very close to the fuel station. Taka may have been there too but wasn't sure as I think I heard they don't get on with one another.
I’ve been out and about over the last 3 days covering the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. About £50 worth of fuel that gave me a needed high and a relaxed mind once home. I’ve always loved riding and feel I need it to stay sane in this madder by the moment world. I’m an Englishman who now lives in Wales and today I felt privileged to have some excellent roads with light traffic to negotiate right on my doorstep. A nice pace with flowing roads where I could get to really enjoy myself without being hindered every 5 minutes by traffic, roundabouts, fluctuating speed limits etc. I could just get on with my ride. I recently visited my Mother in Hampshire and couldn’t believe how much more hectic things seemed to be
Well done for trying anyway, not everyone can be bothered. My advice, let it go for tonight, have a whiskey, sleep on it, try again in the morning
Yesterday afternoon to the front at Hunstanton. Few ugly black and chrome imports and a decent (arguably) Ducati. Back roads home were great till the tractors. But the Blade ambles as well as it goes for it so no worries.
Good advice, thanks! I’ve already started growing it. Next, I’m going to order a reflective waistcoat and then look at chopping in the ‘blade for a Deauville or GS or something equally crap. Then I will really fit the stereotype!
I came dangerously close to buying a Deauville last weekend Been looking for a commuter and the Deauville would have been ideal. Space in the fairing for some nonce nuggets. Sadly owner sold it before I could get there.
Went to Chatsworth House yesterday - first time in a very long time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Weather stayed kind which was a bonus We went over towards Darwen today, not much traffic out but the cafe car park was fuller than usual . Had a brew looking towards the Rocket
