    Hi guys,
Just wondering how often people change the oil onto heir bikes.
I know manual says 8k and some of mates think im mad but I change every 2.5/3k with motul 7100 and just wondered what people on this forum do.
Bike was on 5400 miles 2.5 years ago when I bought it and now is on 18300

I change mine every year irrespective of mileage.

I’ve had my bike a year now. Its just gone over 6000 miles. I have some 7100 ready to go into it and a rubber stamp to go in the book :D

I do about 8k a year so it's changed at yearly service. Never had any issues.

Have my oil changed by the garage when it’s MOT time. Usually do circa 5k miles a year.

No idea what they use, oil I’m guessing. Must confess I’ve never checked the levels between the annual change. It’s not gone bang yet.

Every 3500 miles with a new genuine Honda filter

5k on the blade as I'll never be able to stress the engine. On a 600 3k because Im able to use all of the 600. All depends how it's being used.

miles per year and oil quality main decision factors.
If you run high quality full synthetic (misused term theses days!) and do 8 k a year, the oil+filter change.
I do about 2k/year and change it every 2 years or 4k. Maybe no filter
less than 4k, oil change every 2~3 years manybe no filter.

For semi or mineral, 4k or every year with filter

At least once a year usually in April but in the unlikely event if doing over 3500 in less than 12 months oil will be changed together with genuine oil filter.

Mine gets done at the annual service no matter how many or few miles I do. Never gets more than 3 or 4 k tho.

Same here....Once a year whatever the mileage when the weather gets iffy and it goes into hibernation. I think the most i've done in a year is about 5000, the least was about 1200.

Mine gets serviced every 12 months, around September timeframe, just before the weather changes.

I do 1-2k miles per year. SO yes its overkill, however.. they take the brake calipers off and clean them, and other areas get checked and lubricated. So it's peace of mind, and a stamp in the book.

It's only £175 for the service at Letchworth Honda, so hardly worth crying over. And I get a loan bike for the day to go have fun on!

Mine gets stripped in winter, callipers stripped and pistons lubed, the pistons in my callipers do seem to start sticking even though it only does 2k and never in the rain, anyone else notice this

A lot depends on it's use. If you're using it on the track a lot at full throttle and red-lining the engine, then the oil breaks down quicker and goes black.
Street only use will last far longer.
I just changed mine after 6k km mostly on the track and the oil was black, visible on the dipstick. Next year i'll probably do it sooner.

The book on my 2017 says every 8k or 12 months, whichever is sooner. My 2009 said every 4k or 12 months.
The engine is basically the same one, so I stuck to 4k. This works out about 14 months so it's due anyway by the book.
At 4k you can feel and hear the difference as the oil is getting thin. My dad was a mechanic for nearly 50 years, he always said "oil is cheaper than metal".

Draining just now and was taking a note of the milage. 4.6k since the last change and 4.4k to the time before.
...so looks like 4k is my sweet spot too to catch it before it starts sounding rough.

Actually bought oil a couple of weeks ago but halfords didn't have any filters in then. Must have known it was needing it but thought it sounded ok.
...until yesterday when I was only going to the other side of town and didn't stick my earplugs in.
