In need of some fairing repairs and respray, and was recommended to me to have them wrapped rather than painted - apparently they with original colours and decal design. Anyone had this done, recommend company - or is respray way to go and get vinyl decals added?
My younger son used to wrap F1 cars with one of the pit lane providers and did a couple of bikes privately. The prep had to be just so but the finish was immaculate. I don't know what the cost difference would be re spraying but I'd say if you find a good wrapper go for it.
Try https://www.sublimemotowrap.com/. If you follow them on Instagram, they have lots of photos of wrapped bikes, and what they looked like before wrapping. eg: https://www.instagram.com/p/CkWeQT7rgoD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
I spoke to them about a wrap and they said they don’t actually wrap bikes, they are more just to the edge decal kits
Thats interesting. Perhaps because they focus on race bikes (that don't need to be 100% perfect up close). If its a road bike, I'd paint it. Wouldn't cost that much.
Might want to consider what the bike is worth in as near perfect condition? If it's an older bike and you just want it to look reasonable, then some cheap Chinese replacement fairing off ebay would do or if it's a newer model then probably restore it to original colours ie try finding undamaged parts again off ebay or at least professionally repaired and painted to maintain the best value of your bike should you wish to sell it!?! Basically it depends on where you want to go with it when repaired, keep it or sell it??? So many variables without knowing what you intend to do???
Thanks for the replies. Bike is 15 years old with 50k miles on, but have been restoring, so don't want perfect but want at least good! Spraying would be difficult to patch, so would need more extensive work and maybe decals hence why think wrap was suggested. Been riding around as is for a couple of years, so maybe a spray patch up is enough if wrap isn't that easy - (or good)
There's a guy on the Ducati forum who does this, he's based in Wigan near Manchester and he's very good at looking at some of the stuff he's doing. Does bikes, helmets etc. I'll pit you in touch with him if your local. Hes just done this V2 (V4 SP style) wrap job.....looks amazing and this is on a red bike.
Looks good. Be interesting to know what it would cost. I can’t see it being anywhere near what a respray would be.
