I would say Arai are mugging you off. The production costs for the Arai are never 7 times that of the Nexx. Arai will say you are paying for the exclusivity of a limited 250 production run and the skilled Arai craftsman yada yada yada. It definitely ain't 7 times safer. All Helmet testing is flawed to an extent as it is impossible to test for the infinte variations in the way you might hit your head in accident. There is a school of thought that the helmet tests could be counterproductive in that they encourage very stiff shells when a more flexible shell may transmit less energy to the head. At the end of the day whatever you spend make sure it fits properly as that's far more important than the name on the outside.
well as you asked so nicely mate! Nexx helmets - Motorbike Helmet Reviews | MCN think they come from a cruiser background but have moved into the full face / sports market of late.
i know - meant it with a hint of sarcasm pal, totally agree with problems with testing though... always as no two accidents are the same. but some testing and regulating must be better than none? then you can pick any lid that fits best and know that it meets a standard??
I'm seriously tempted as i need a new lid. My shoei is about 8 yr old. Been looking at arai (used to have one and it was the quietest, comfiest lightest lid ever had) but being a skint bastard £300 seems more attainable than £450 , plus another £60 ish for a visor. Yea, i know i could plum for a dark tint pinlock...
For sure there has to be testing and regulation so they meet a minimum standard but it is an inexact science. Any attempt to improve it has to be welcomed. I don't necessarily agree with the Sharp ratings on Arais but I do think it shows you don't need to spend £100s to get a decent lid.
like the look of that nexx, if their on sale at the scottish bike show i,ll try one on. had made up my mind to get thishttp://www.cyclenet-uk.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=504. tried it on at the nec, amazing fit and very light. quality was amazing. guy was offering it at show price for £420. whish i,d bought it now. anyone else tried out a bell? my aria is only 5 years old but its looking a bit shabby now. also got an agv stealth s4 but never been too happy with it.
Nexx are the biggest seller of openface helmets in europe, this range is their first attempt at the closed faced helmet
has anyone tryed out an reevu helmet, Reevu motorbike helmets. Reevu - the world's first rear view helmet
For those of you guys interested. We can do cracking deals on Shoei helmets. Top kit and very quiet! I also have a few Shark Race-R / Race-R Pro's to clear. Let me know any interest. Cheers
Will be getting a new one off you in a couple of months then Jonny, just need to save some pennies up as my x spirit is coming up to 5 years old and should need changing (I think) even though its still mint. What can you do on the X spirit 2 Kagayama 3 TC-2 Blue or mcguiness rep or might have a look at the new XR 1100 enigma TC2 (red/white/blue) as I had a XR1000 and that was great as well.... PM me if you like
I'll send you a PM now mate. X-Spirit 2 Kagayama has been discontinued, and we've no remaining stock of that model so can't do that one. McGuiness is still available and we have some instock, although this is a limited edition lid. Current UK range is on our site BikeBitsNI - Motorcycle Performance & Accessories - Brake Specialists (Powered by CubeCart) PM on its way now. Cheers
Now that does look a bloody stupid idea.....................yes i have seen them before and i would never buy one
My point is too complicated for you to understand JD? And you seriously think I'm a troll? You had never even used the term troll until you first used the internet, which was apparently about 2 weeks ago.
Just an update for anyone interested in these lids, I hope to have one to try on in about a week, will keep you posted. JD
all the reviews seem great for the nexx carbon, really want the new 2012 white/black. not too keen on the leather looking thing, looks like a gimp mask from the back!
