I have just purchased a fireblade after 20 years of wanting one and also not riding bikes, it is a 2008 model red /black.

Have ridden it a couple of times now and absolutely love it!!!!..

Any recommendations on courses/track days that would be a better rider than just sitting on it!!. I live in the UK (near Norwich)

MSV trackdays at Snetterton or Cadwell would be good for you over that side of the country. You could look for a roadbike only or Novice day if you preferred.

Use code TDRBIKE23 for 10% off at checkout.

James Whitham trackdays also operate out of Cadwell and Snetterton too.

    Hello and welcome.

As others have suggested, Snetterton is nearby and will have instructors available for support. If you want to go further afield, there is Brands Hatch and Bedford Autodrome also. California Superbike School is run in the UK, but is expensive.

On the road training, try IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) or a BikeSafe course.

Come back and report on what you end up doing!

Hi and welcome, certainly would recommend a bike safe course as a refresher it might be an idea to check your local road safety dept to see if they run courses or most bike training schools will advise what's available, enjoy the bike spring is coming.

+1 on the Bikesafe recommendation. Not just informative and useful training it’s an absolute blast to go speeding with the coppers and not get a ticket.

Santa Pod Raceway - 1/4 mile drag strip - they do Run What Ya Brung open days for bikes and cars.

It is really useful to get some idea of what your bike will do at + 8,000 revs in 3rd gear without having to worry about corners and other riders.

Mine clocked actual 135 mph after a few attempts. Kept the front wheel down - no worries about corners, trees, traffic - a revelation !!

No messing about it is a quick bike.
