I noticed the OEM oil filter has gone up 605 over the past 3 years! has anyone used a non OEM filter (hiflo, MIW in particular) and what was the result (other than price)?
I get where you are coming from. But guaranteed performance with all the implications cr@p performance has swat my decision every time
The difference in price pays for a vehicle maker’s branding and their huge mark up. BMW, Volvo, Honda, Mercedes etc etc etc all do it. Filter is made by Mann, Bosch, HiFlo, etc and they are identical products, even down to some filters I’ve used in the past having the after market parts numbers still on them but over-badged by the vehicle brand.
must say hiflo is popular as a non OEM alternative. Compared to the US, we have a limiter range of options excluding the unbraded ones sold on ebay @ suspiciously low prices. From the response, I feel more comfortable with hiflo on the CBR. I already used their air filter in my yam single
I’ve used K&N in the past. Useful nut on the end you can use to remove it although it shouldn’t ever be that tight anyway.
Have a look on YouTube at filters tested , there is a lot going on in them such as blow by and type of filter material. I've always used OEM for the RR7, and Champion on the 918 . regular oil and filter changing is not that expensive
As previously stated Honda will not make their own filters, they will sub them out to a 3rd party that meets the standards, and they will screw them down on price so the filter maker will have to make them to a price
Got any links to these stories? I’m happy to buy something else if they’re bad and they haven’t fixed them.

F me. I had no idea. Have just changed the oil & filter on my 748 and planned to do the blade shortly as it’s just gone over 6000. Both filters on my shelf are KN… Thanks.
