    Guys,

I’ve got an engine here that has the knocking issue that the 08-11 model is famous for…

Tried the CCT both manual and OEM but still sounds like a bag of bolts…

Noise disappears when applying engine load but as soon as release the rattle/knock is there again.

I know there was the recall on the faulty crank for this year but I'm struggling to get Honda find the recall and check if it was completed or not…

Any advice on this? Recall numbers? Even a guide to repairing the issue etc are all welcome if anyone has anything.
Tempted to tackle this myself as i have the engine sitting but need more info surrounding the actual issue before i start ripping things apart.

Based in central scotland so if anyone has recommendation of a guy they’ve used before that knows his stuff that could either do it or at least give some advice then its much appreciated!

    Cheers!

    Hi Mate,

I really feel for you, I'm in Dunfermline, my 2010 HRC had the same noise, it was like a loud fast ticking, there's not really a lot of places in Scotland to get it checked.

I took it to different places, Dynotech Hillington, and a guy in Kirkintilloch, Falkirk, Gowkhall and Inverkeithing they were all shocked as Honda's are bulletproof, Inverkeithing stuck a CCT on it and charged £300 for the privilege! Don't go there!
It was still the same, nobody knew what it was.
She had just done 23k miles, I bought her in 2011 with 6k on her we had been to Europe, Nurburgring, IOM, Northern Ireland, Devon and all over Scotland she was totally faultless until a trip home from Skye in 2021.
I tried my best even looked at a 2nd hand engine but you just don't know what your buying!
I phoned Philip Scolfield, We bike Any Bike.Com, they offered me £3k for her, the guy came out, I started her up and he said we can't take that your crank's shagged

So I ended up having to scrapping her with Mark the Yorkshire Gooner. He gave me £2500 for her, the thing is she was absolutely immaculate condition my pride and joy.
I did road test a 22 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory but didn't get on with it, it wasn't a Blade. so I looked around and found one exactly the same 2010 HRC in Luton with 2900 miles on the clock from new, turn out the guy was in his 60's had a main bike and the Blade was his fine weather toy only covering a couple of hundred miles a year from new so I snapped it up this was last year.

I hope you find a fix. I know how shit it is.

    Good luck mate.

Cheers mate, yeah its a total f****** nightmare to be honest!

I was on the phone to Patrick form Rapid Motorcycles in Motherwell the other day and he reckons he could completely rebuild the full engine with new parts from the bottom up so may be worth a go…

Makes it worse when everyone says “that’s strange with a Honda! They’re normally Bomb Proof” haha!

I will let you know how i get on, glad you got sorted mate!

Maybe get out a run at some point
