Booked time of work . Arranged childcare . Mentally prepared for surgery on my bloody skull and spine Travelled an hour in the car . Arrived on time at Ward 3 and was told to take a seat in the day room . 30 mins later my name is called so i picked up my bag " Leave your things there Mr Moore , we just need to have a chat with you " Ok " We are very sorry Mr Moore but we have no beds and we are cancelling your surgery tomorrow . WHAT ? No phone call . No Apology . All i got was " Would you like a cup of tea ? " You can stuff your fookin cup of tea !! Im home now awaiting a letter for a new date .
-1 Mate, I feel for you. That is horrendous on so many levels: A) Wasting your time 2) Lack of communication or an apology III) The mental prep and psyching up you've gone through Silver lining, you'll be able to watch WSB in comfort on Sunday
True , forgot about that . lol So pissed off with the hospital . I didn't know if i was going to cry or knock the woman out so i walked . Been on the phone with the surgeon who confirmed that if there is no beds then there is no surgery I asked how long have they been over run and they said they have been cancelling all week .. Where was my fookin phone call then ?? They said coz I'm young and in pain and having such a big surgery that they have been trying up to today to make a bed available . Ok thanks for that but still ... what a piss take
They should have called & said "Look, the sit rep is X, but we're really trying. Please still come in, but be prepared to be disappointed". At least that way you could have been halfway cool with it.
I don't believe it. Sorry to hear that Dan. Can't. Believe they waited till the very last minute to tell you, that's really bad. Hopefully they'll pull their fingers out, get you booked in real quick and get you fixed. Chin up xx
Lost my wife to breast cancer a couple of years ago.........during some of her treatments in the few years leading up to her death on one occassion she had to prepare for surgery in the lounge area of the ward ! so i feel for you pal.......
Dan mate. What can I say. We were banging on all last night about customer service, and here it is out loud. Gutted for you mate. But worst of all I've got to work out how to get your bike back in your garage before you notice it's gone.
That is real crap Dan, really feel for you, unfortunately it is fairly common these days. Had the same thing a few years back, all the psyching up and then nothing, it really is unacceptable. Let's hope it gets sorted soon. Meanwhile, the weathers dry, have a ride.
Sorry to hear this Dan, i can only imagine the mental preperation you must have done to prepare for this op. A pity we cant rate the service with our feet like we would a shops
Hello mate i've just been catching up on 1000rr and was reading about your op, sorry to hear about it being cancelled i know only to well what that feels like!!!!!!! The NHS isn't worth the paper it's printed on anymore. I was due to have my leg amputated 18 months ago and like you say i was mentally ready to go in and they phoned me the night before and cancelled it because i had high blood pressure? " i said to them what do you expect i'm losing a leg! Anyway got that sorted rebooked the op and it got cancelled again so in the end i said stick your op and i kept my leg. It may not work and it gives me a lot of grief but i i can still ride my bike and thats whats important. I hope they get you booked in soon and i wish you a quick recovery.
That's crap, Dan. Getting yourself all revved up to go get it done and then being let down like that. Hope you get sorted out soon.
