Hi guys, just starting to fit a QS I bought from a forum member and straight away I've hit a problem. Firstly how do I remove the shift rod? I don't want to bust the ball joints if that's not correct. Secondly, when I get the airbox off I assumed it would just be the 4 coils I disconnected but the wiring has 9 plugs? Any help would be really appreciated.
You need the whole airbox off, lower part too. I generally take of the injectors aswell as its tight down there. The coils of course are 4 of. Have a plug each 4 plugs, so dont know where you are looking? Pic?? The coils are on a mini loom aswell. Standard shift rod, 2 spanners 8 or 10mm hold the rod other the nut etc to undo
Ok, all fitted and went out yesterday to try it. I don't understand all the push/pull and millisecond numbers to set it up correctly. On the ride out it missed the gear between 3rd and 4th a few times and gave me a neutral, is that anything to do with the setup? Can anyone give me an idea what the milliseconds etc should be at?
I would start at 60 ms and reduce it until it cuts in every gear correctly, some qs kits you can alter the kill time for each gear independently.
I’m not sure what qs you have fitted but some adjust the kill time depending on the revs, higher the revs shorter the kill time, lower revs longer kill time, I don’t use my qs from 1st to 2nd as it’s quite a hard gear change and usually no less than 6000rpm.
