Hi All, are there any obvious parts I could take from a 2012+ model to put on a 2008 MY CBR1K? that would make a difference? I believe the Showa Rear Shock and BPF Front Forks can be transplanted without any modification. Would they deliver any benefit being newer parts? Obviously the suspension would need to be re-setup once swapped. A few people have said stick with the 3-spoke 2008 wheels as they are lighter than 2012 multi-spoke. Anything else? calipers, MC, etc?
As long as the callipers are 108mm they should fit, master cylinder is the same also but I would strongly recommend upgrading if you are going through the trouble of swapping forks as I find it’s the week point of the braking system.
There's not much that would make a difference as per say. Most parts fit - but that's for a like for like purpose, crash damage etc. Forks and esp the rear shock way better. But if paying just for the sake of it to get 2012 forks its pointless money be better spent on upgrading your internals etc I do have Maxton front and rear suspension for sale gp10 and gp30, top kit Multi spoke wheels just for looks
interested in the rear shock you mention. Seems to be a few good quality 2012+ rear shocks on eBay going for good value money. Is that a good place to start?
The 2012 oem shock is a good cheap upgrade nothing amazing like a full on bespoke item. But then of course they cost more. But 12-19 all the same rear shock will fit yours. I wouldn’t pay more than £100 personally for 1 My maxton gp10 rear shock you can Google about for there site and info That would be £550
It’s fits. No difference though over 12-16 your looking at standard oem stuff it never going to be crazy better than oem your replacing
