Started the search for a new bike, I fancy the last of the underseaters.

Going to be checking all the usual places daily; ebay, market place, autotrader and MCN. If anyone knows of one outside of these places or is perhaps sitting on the fence about selling then let me know.

Has to be mint, budget is £4-6k, not fussed on colour.

If you see a VFR800 in the sale section you know I've struck gold.

    Cheers.

This place seems to have plenty to choose from and might have one that will fit the bill.

    https://www.mbsuperbikes.com/

Has anyone been or bought from here? Long way from me to go and find out online pictures can be deceiving.

I searched for 3 months till I found mine, low mileage and original. There are still some crackers out there but they don't pop up as much as other models. They seem to be a keepers bike.
Me and @PauloHRC went in my van to collect one near Newcastle but when we got there it wasn't as advertised (mint condition) so after a 260 mile round trip we were back with an empty van .
    They are brilliant bikes.
The bikes on that site look good n tidy

I’m not 100% mate but I think it might be the bloke who ran a local Suzuki dealership that recently closed called Ford and ellis?
I would offer to go and have a look as not far from me but I’m away at the moment.

I had my eye on a blade at this place when I was looking at rr6 and rr7s. Again a long way for me too travel only to find its not as expected. Seems to have a very large stock of most brands too.

I decided to delve deeper and research them on't tinternet......got to say some of the reviews put me right off!!! I don't know anything about them personally, only what I've read on Google reviews.

Bad attitude and bikes crammed ridiculously close together popped up a few time

Thanks mate, they won't be worth the hassle then. I'm trying to avoid the superbike factory aswell because of a bad reputation.

A local private seller would be ideal, I'm in no rush I can hold on indefinitely. I may even wait for you to get bored of your R1 :D

Yeah I looked around alot to a point where I was getting frustrated, there's not that many of that age that are as mint as you are going to want it to be.

Then all of a sudden one will pop up out of nowhere, just bide your time!!

    R1's a keeper......but I always say that :D

I did look at 2009-2010 R1's but they are just a little bit too expensive.

It's been a long journey but here she is....

Picked her up from Oban start of November and had a very cold 310 mile ride home. The next morning whilst washing on the driveway I nearly dropped her off a paddock stand and cracked the upper cowl trying to hold her up by the wing mirror stalks .

This set off a chain of events.....Full strip down to get the cowl off to be repaired and painted. Then whilst it was in bits mission creep snuck in and I started stripping and cleaning everything. Calipers re-sealed and pistons polished, chain and sprockets changed, fork seals and bushes changed, all fluids changed, heated grips and a gear indicator added, new gear lever (to allow reverse shift), new brake and clutch levers, new clutch m/c piston kit, new dash plastic surround, cleaned and painted the radiator and the tail tidy brackets, numerous fasteners and jubilees replaced etc etc....the list goes on, probably forgotten a lot.

Anyway, paint work came back start of January luckily before I could find anything else to spend on it.

It's a really tidy low mileage 07 ready for some good weather. :)

@CharlieR85 What m/c piston kit did you use?

Also, how did you get those calipers so clean?!?

It was an Allballs rebuild kit. The rubber boot at the end of the piston on the lever had split. A new boot was only slightly cheaper than the rebuild kit.

Calipers went in the ultrasonic bath :D
