Hi guys firstly has anyone bought a set of Chinese fairings and how do they compare to oem fairings regarding fitment and quality? Secondly If I do buy a set I’m looking at having this custom 93 blade inspired design done on my 2017, I’m just nervous whether it would like right on my shape bike or whether to play it safe and go for the Hayden wsbk replica look! What do you fellow blade owners think☺️
There are lots of posts for Chinese fairings with varying reports on their quality. I think bottom line is, you pay your money and take your chance. As for the two schemes, personally I've never been big on the retro look. It was great in its day, but for me shouldn’t have been revived for the recent bike. Whereas the WSBK looks the part - if that’s what you’re looking for . Decisions decisions
Quality is a total lottery in my experience. First set I bought had a perfect finish, but the fit was dreadful and took ages to get right. Second set, the fit was perfect, but the finish had plenty of blemishes. Pretty much what you'd expect for £350!
I've had Chinese fairings before and never had any issues. Great fit, decent quality and paint is pretty good too! Out of the two designs I'd go with the Red Bull one, its actually the 2019 Suzuka 8 hour livery, Not Nicky Hayden wsbk. I had a 2018 Suzuka 8 hr replica SP which was the same but without the Red Bull logos. When you say 'Having this design done' are you buying unpainted fairings and getting a paint job done? Or are you buying them painted as I'm pretty sure the Red Bull one is readily available, not too sure about the retro 93 one though. What paint job and colour wheels have you got now??
My fairing is Chinese. I didn't fit it myself but there are no places I would say it has been fudged to fit. I stood on it and cracked the lugs on the back of the tank but I traced the original supplier and they did me a new tank in the same style for £60 shipped. I just needed to move the badges over. Frankly I was surprised.
This is Nicky Hayden wsbk one......it has the Barracuda and pirelli decals and doesn't have the huge Honda belly pan logo which sets them apart. Much darker blue tank and seat unit too, Suzuka has more red on it.
hi mate cheers I didn’t know that lol, I think I do prefer the one I posted up though over the proper Hayden rep. When I say designed I was looking at the redbull kit on aliexpress and the company said they do custom kits too so that’s where I messaged them and they did a quick design on what I asked them when I sent them a pic of the 93 fireblade. I like them both to be honest but feel the 93 rep could be that big more special especially compared to the new 30th edition design they’ve done, personally don’t think that looks half as good as the 93 version here
Yeah its an iconic design that and looks great especially on the original. I know in their listing on ebay they do say, custom design and decals etc......but I would say if you're asking them to do a one off l, there is more chance it wouldn't be that great. Compared to what they mass produce and perfected if you like. Beware customs charges as well, you could end up paying more than you think.
exactly what I’m thinking regarding it being a one off!! They do say they will send final sign off pics before it’s posted but it’s not the same as real life looking at them!! I believe the import taxes you can get battered on them, I’ve been stung before on them but accept I’ll have to pay it now!! Will have a good think on but I’ve even seen the red bull fairings in black and silver too that don’t look too bad!
My friend bought a set for a zx9, they were about half the thickness of oe and a couple of places barely fitted, he came off on a slow low side and they completely disintegrated.
Bought mine 2 months ago directly from a factory in China, I asked a friend to check on them there and he recommended them. Got delivered and installed less than a month ago. Finish wise I'd say they are 98% good, fitting wise is about 95% good. The SC77 has very light (thin) fairings, the Chinese set are double the thickness.
Worth considering a couple of coats of clear as soon as it arrives. ...and when I get another kit I'll be reinforcing most of the lugs before fitting - in particular the ones round the radiator. (Which I'm sorting at this minute) Same kind of affair, epoxy/microfibre mix. ...but before they break rather than after.
Is there a need for reinforcing the lugs? Are your fairings pressure mold or injection mold? Injection mold is the better option, but with them being Chinese you have to reinforce them against heat not breakage. Two days ago, I noticed that the lower left/right fairing clip was not holding the two parts well, I discovered that the clip mechanism had some warpage due to being too close to the exhaust headers. I took a fast ride yesterday and boom it opened wide open, luckily there was another clip holding it further back preventing the faring from flying away. I took a nail and heated it to make holes then pulled the fairings together using a metal wire, now it's better than OEM and hidden behind the fairing.
