Has anyone fitted the Matris valve kit to their big piston fork blades, mines a 2015. Just wondering what ypu thought and if it was a good upgrade in feel and control.
Looking at it, it seems you are getting a spring, shim stack and piston, spacer and 5W oil instead of 10w to me you need the shim stack to match your riding, I don't know what a Technopolimer spacer is, but in reality it sits at the bottom of the spring and only moves when you adjust preload, It would be better if they did shim stack charts, maybe they do but don't put this on the advert, will have to look into this
Yea im.new to matris stuff. In other bikes fitted k tech ssrk valve kit but they don't do it for bpf. Matris seems to be the only ones that do a valve kit. You have to supply them with your weight woth all your gear on and type of riding so maybe they send springs for weight and adjust valve stacks to suit?
On a previous post I have pointed out how over sprung the front end is if you ride one up it can be vastly improved by fitting springs to your weight, the standard springs 11.3kg are rated for about 135kg rider weight. which they must allow for if you have a passenger, I have fitted new springs and has transformed the front end, I think brookes are now doing springs now for £88 so good value, I have put Hondas chart below showing the standard spring rate at the top11.3kg/mm and recommended spring rates for weight
I dunno mate, I have tried setting preload at say 5.5 instead of 7.5 and got reb 2.5 out and comp 3.5 out and it doesn't feel too bad. I use about 108mm of travel out of 110/120mm travel depending where tpu look for info on the big piston forks on the 2015 cbr1000rr
It does depend on riding style, weight, etc, If you are using nearly all the travel you are sprung about right, I am not hard on the brakes and about 75 kitted, I still had about 40mm travel left so it has made my ride so much better, I have also changed the rear
It's a mine field tbf. Talk to some and they say need measure sag and do this that and others say it depends on riding style and how you brake etc with spring needed.. Like I said I have about 15mm from my marker to casting on bottom of fork leg. Doesn't seem to go much lower than this even when doing stoppies or rolling stoppies so dont think the bpf go all the way down to the casting. Just dont know if the matris will give better feel.and control than the standard set up. Looking at abput 380 for valve kit and springs in kit to your weight and riding style.
You are effectively paying £200 for a shim stack, the original piston heads are all billet, sounds good just means it is made in one, technoplastic spacer or whatever it was called is just a spacer and compresses the spring from your preload adjuster, might expand microns less thermally don't know, this will alter ride height by microns, the low friction bushes are just normal fork bushes to fit their piston, at £380it is a lot of money I contacted them to see if I could buy 2 shim stacks with the kit one for the road and one for track I said my roads were bumpy and the tracks smooth, They replied saying no, If I want to go on bumpy roads I would need a cartridge kit I assume they just send out a set shim stack
Ah right so reckon be better just getting mine serviced then. I contacted ktech and they said owm is good for me at 95kg without gear. I've got bitubo xxf31 shock on rear of bike bike and it is way better than oem so that's why I was looking at seeing if could upgrade front to go with it. You seem way more clued up on it than me.
