OK, so today I got everything done, so I could take a couple of hours for myself and nip out on the bike for a couple of hours.

This is the first proper ride since it 'went to bed' back in October, and the first time I've been on the bike to check out the new Hel lines, Harris levers & the Pipercross airfilter (all of which I'm more than happy with).

    But...

Above a 'certain speed', my helmet (HJC R-PHA 10 Ben Spies Rep) has developed a really annoying vibration. Pushing 15-20mph passed that 'certain speed' made it so bad it blurred my vision?!?

So I checked to make sure the helmet was done up tight enough, the visor was on properly, closed the vents etc., but nothing works.

I have no idea what has changed, or what could have caused it. I had it before my Germany trip & travelled at warp 10 all the way there with no issues, so I'm stumped.

    Any ideas?

Stick some tape over the vents etc to see if something has come loose and the wind is causing it to rattle inside.

FoC - Nope. I did have a fleece on & wondered it that was cocking up aerodynamics, but then discounted that as foolish

Colin - Funnily enough, Mrs. V suggested that now I have a pin head, instead of a fat head it could make a difference, but the helmet is pretty new and it's still snug?

dazza - I'll give it a go, but couldn't hear anything rattling

Another thing make sure that your visor is clipped in 100%. Last year i was riding for hours with only one side clipped in before i noticed. (Thought it was a bit breezy!) :p

It's not referred vibration is it. A harmonic Caused by a changed induction frequency through the new air filter?

I like your style Ken, but I hope the harmonic's of the new air filter aren't causing aeroelastic flutter in my helmet...

With our rally mini, we ran a Stromberg carb for day to day commute running and a Weber for competition. The extra vibration caused by the induction through the Weber would make everything not tight in the car buzz like a bastard. We had a car with sick building syndrome.

Hmmm. I've got Tuesday off, so will get out on the bike & see if it persists. I'll also pop on my Shoei as a control subject to see.

That's the thing, faster I went, the worse it got. At blurred vision, I decided to back off.
